Packing, rocking out, gardening and other good stuff
Today's been very good and productive. Chris didn't have to work and he helped me pack up a bunch of stuff. We got all the DVDs packed up and most of our massive CD collection. But silly me in the packing frenzy I've been in I packed up my best mp3 metal mixes of Kalmah, Graveworm and my Thagirion Soundtrack. I had to remake the Thagirion soundtrack the other day because I didn't have it to listen to anymore. And now that most of the original CDs are packed I had to rip the newest Graveworm Collateral Defect. So I made an updated mp3 disk today and instead of having it all in alphabetical order I decided to do what Chris has been doing and put it on there by albums. I never knew you could burn them as files and then the player would play each file then go to the next. Duh! How cool is that? So that's what I'm listening to now is my Graveworm mix. That reminds me. I need to add Collateral Defect to my sidebar for what's currently playing.

So then we went out and rented a space for storage. I drove around yesterday looking at different places and finally chose one I liked because of the size, height of ceiling, security, surveillance, price and how helpful the staff was. I talked to the lady that worked there yesterday and when she found out I like dinosaurs and Jurrasic Park we started chatting a lot. She told me I need to go visit Dinosaur World and I really should. I've driven past it many times but never have gone. I told her I worked at the science museum for four years and got to meet some famous paleontolgists there. She was happy to see me when we came again today and I introduced Chris to her. She took us back there and showed us the place again and gave us our lock before we filled out any paperwork or even paid. She told me she doesn't do that but for me she made an exception because she'd enjoyed my company. I love hearing stuff like that from people.

We came back home, packed some more then spent some quality time together during a big thunderstorm. I love storms. They are so beautiful. I like them best right before they hit because they are a dark blue and the darkness makes the trees or the grass shine a bright green. It's the best when white birds fly in front of these clouds because they seem to glow. Our six baby trees are doing great! We're definitely taking them with us when we move. But I've kinda let my garden go to Hell. I'm not taking anything else with me from it and it's sad because I did put so much effort into it just to let it die. But I'm already thinking about the one we'll have in our new home. It's about looking forward and not looking back. The new one will be way better. Ah, so tomorrow I need to pack my gardening tools and supplies. All my poisons hehe.

I've added two new icons. The one I'm using now is appropriate because after talking with fireraider I'm really in a metal mood now. That and Chris bought me these awesome dark chocolate rice sticks. They have rice crispies in them. They are delicious and full of caffinee. It's like eating solid coffee. And I do love my coffee black. I don't remembe where I found this or who that even is. I should remake this icon with someone like King Diamond instead. I'm not a fan of black and white. But I'd probably have to photoshop him since there aren't any pics of him holding up a coffee mug. Speaking of the album Collateral Defect. I really like it. I can look past the doom like depressing lyrics. I've noticed they've gone from the spiritual to the political theme which I don't care much for. But if they sound good I can look past it. Kalmah is VERY political and they are my favorite. Well one thing I love about Graveworm is that they usually cover an American pop song and it's so funny yet cool at the same time in the black style. In this album they've covered Bonnie Tyler's I Need A Hero. Everytime I hear this I think of Shrek because it was played in the second movie. But now I see it as part of the soundtrack for Shrek but sung by Thagirion. HAHA, go figure that. I've been trying to track down the version of Engraved In Black that has the Petshop Boy's cover It's a Sin. I love the way Gamma Ray covered it and to hear Graveworm do it would be so awesome! But that's been a very hard album to find. I have the rip off version with no bonus songs. Pppttthhhurrrbbb!! Oh and you'll have to go in my icon page to see the Anomalocaris icon.

Ok so after that we went out again and picked up more tupperware boxes for packing. I needed them mostly for my huge book collection. I bought some smaller ones but they are still too big. I filled one up and well let's just say it's real heavy. So I need to go back and try to exchange them for a half size. I kept almost all my text books from college and most of my science books are hardcovers which make things really heavy. This isn't going to be good. But I kind of am looking forward to packing them because I can arrange them in order better not only by subject but also put the books I reference most all in one box. I've got a whole bunch of little pet bird books that are nice but I don't really use that need to be kept separate in the less used section.

We've also been watching the Planet Earth DVDs. Tonight we watched the Fresh Water episode and I liked that a lot. I love rivers and I love piranhas so it was cool them talked about them. Oh and Chris was going through our old recoreded VHS tapes and found our wedding tape. I'm so glad because we had lost it. That's one I have to transfer to DVD soon. As in before I pack up the DVD player/recorder. I watched a little bit of it and it's so nice. What a special and beautiful day that was. So as you see today was packed. Very little time was wasted. I hope tomorrow will be as good.

"I don't remembe where I found this or who that even is."

That's Abbath from Immortal. He always gets photoshopped into amusing situations, my favourite (I can't find it atm) is him striking a classic black metal pose in the toilet - "Who took the paperrrrrrrr!!!!"

Hails
Hails. I noticed you added me the other day. How did you find my journal and what caught your interest about it?

Ah Chris was right then! I asked him who that was and he said Immortal. I love metal but he knows it better and keeps up with bands and their members more than I do. I mostly just listen to the CDs and know which bands are my faves. That's funny that this is photoshoped. I really want to redo this to King Diamond.

Re: Hails
I'm pretty sure it was in one of those metal communities, being new to this place (as of Friday), I checked about to find other people with similar interests, yours was just one of the sites which caught my eye.

Re: Hails
Ah ok. Well welcome then. I looked at your profile and see we do have a few things in common. So you're in Australia? That's really cool. Most of my friends here are international. I'm in Florida. Australia is one place I hope to visit one day. Are there any budgies in the south?
I'm Right.simonb3 on July 22nd, 2007 10:09 pm (UTC)
Re: Hails
Yeah, not normally wild, but pretty much every Australian has had a budgie as a pet at some point. I had one when I was 8 but my little sister let it out of the cage, never to be seen again : (

Florida is one of the places I want to visit - unfortunately, however, I've never even left my time zone, let alone the country. Is the place still producing good local DM, or was that more of a surge in the late '80s?

Re: Hails
I'm very much budgie obsessed. It's funny because when most people think of Australia they think of Kangaroos or Koalas but I think of budgies. I want to go to the desert and see the flocks of wild budgies one day.

Natural Florida is beautiful. Last year for my anniversary we went to the Everglades and it was gorgeous! I've traveled quite a bit with Europe being the furthest I've ever gone, but I've never been as far as Australia. I've wanted to visit there since I was a kid. That and South America would be awesome! I will do it one day.

DM? You mean Depech Mode? Yeah I think it was pretty much mostly 80s. My friend Cheezey could tell you better what they've been up to if anything.

Re: Hails
Haha, Depeche Mode... I was actually talking about Death Metal, but that works too I guess haha.

Re: Hails
Oops my bad. Hehe, I should have known what you meant. Oh yeah we still have some death metal bands coming out of Florida. Don't know what the latest is but we've had some great bands like Savatage, Iced Earth and Kamelot from here.

Sounds like the packing is going well! Its great when you find people with similar interests to talk to. I did in a shop in London.
I love storms too, I dunno why some people are scared of them. I sit on the balcony and watch them over the sea and the lightning.
I love the song I Need a Hero but it reminds me of Short Circuit 2 moreso than Shrek because that was the first place I heard it!
Des: Fungus Wickedthagirion on July 22nd, 2007 12:48 pm (UTC)
Yes it is. I think we're about half way done. Oh yes I LOVE talking to others that are really into my stuff.
Storms are wonderful but you have to respect them too. Lightning is very dangerous and not something you want to be around.
It's been forever since I've seen the Short Circuit movies so I forgot that song was in it.

Just FYI
"I like the name Lilith. I don't remember from where I heard it before, but it sounds do dark..."

From memory it was a character in Hebrew folklore who didn't make the final cut of the Bible, she was the original woman (created before Eve) but refused to serve or bow down to Adam so she was banished. I don't know all the details, but wikipedia does ;)

Re: Just FYI
Yep some stories say she was turned into a demon or monster and joined Satan's side. She can take the form of an owl and that's the bird that represents her.

Re: well... here we go...
Oh Hell yes I want a black doberman. I don't like the red and blue ones as much. I like the normal black breed. You've heard Lilth mentioned both by Therion and Cradel. The Owl mentioned in Isaiah 34 is her. See my response below to Simonb3 (I'm glad you two are chatting on my journal :D). Isaiah 34 is my favorite passage in the Bible because God is angry and destroying things. Not only that but once he's finished it sounds like the birds inherit that earth and that ending makes me happy. I don't think so many different types of birds have ever been mentioned at once anywhere else in the Bible. That's cool. But yes I think a dark name like Lilith would be cool for a dark dog like a Doberman. I don't want her to have a push over name. I don't think Sasha is cute. To me that name sounds very Egyptian.

Yes I love storms. We had a beautiful sky this evening and now this night it is raining. Yes the rain on the roof is relaxing and that's the best time when it rains at night to sleep comfortably.

Thanks. There's just so much interesting stuff out there how could I not like it. I know in this regard I'm nothin like "normal" girls. And I'm glad because normal girls are shallow and boring. They also don't have any brains. I'm not surprised by your reaction. People are surprised by what I'm into. What's funny is if you met me you'd never know it by my looks. I like bright or pastel colors and I look very innocent. But looks are decieving because I'm a vicous evil snake or tiger.
I'm Right.simonb3 on July 23rd, 2007 12:04 pm (UTC)
Re: well... here we go...
Looks don't need to decieve, where I live alot of the birds are brutal as hell... back in '05 and '06 when I used to ride to school, there were these magpies who lived on the main street between my house and school who used to divebomb me every morning. During winter, if they managed to peck or scratch at my ears, OWCH. Australia has a heap of vicious birds like that.

Point being, birds are as evil as any other creatures, and you wouldn't want to underestimate them.

Re: well... here we go...
I meant my looks but yes all birds are evil in one way or another. I've been dealing with birds for years now and know how smart and crafty they are. I breed several kinds of parrots and soft bills so you have to be on your toes around them. I actually prefer the aggressive species over the timid ones.

Re: well... here we go...
Well I came from a fanatical Christian family so I had no choice. Just like with the fandoms I thought Christianity was good but Christians were bad. I can't stand other Christians and if that's what they are like I don't want any part of it. I like to read as many religious books as I can (I haven't read as many as I should). Not only is it interesting but nothing beats arguing with a religious person and throwing their own book at them. Many times these people don't even know what's in these books they claim to follow. Right now I've picked up a book on American Indian belifes and *sigh* once I have time I look forward to reading it.

Yeah it is a good thing to not look like what I really am and when people find out the hard way the reaction is always priceless. Gosh I can't stand other girls and I hated them when I was in highschool. I can't imagine only worrying about their hair and what clothes to buy, looking like everyone else, painting nails and other stupid unimportant girl things like that. Yuck.

Well not sure what I did but very glad to help brighten your day. :D
