New art new music
For those of you not on DA I have at last finished that drawing in time for George's birthday. Check this out. I'm impressed with how beautiful this turned out.

Click for full size
I used a dark color for the top gradient and I'm amazed what a huge difference that made in my gradient sky. Looks great. So George blows out the candles in a very unique and frightening way. He is a sharp shooter so he'd be good at that. It's amazing to me I've had George for two years. Doesn't feel like it. Oh and this time I drew him with his .44 magnums which he obtained in the 50's. Wanted to show something besides his desert eagles.

I have recently found some new metal songs I'm loving. I also love it when I learn something totally new from metal I had never heard of before. That's happened a few times and why I love it so much.

Sabaton - Night Witches.

Ok WHY was I never taught this in history. I even took a course in college just on WWII and no one ever mentioned this. The "Night Witches" were a squadron of Russian female fighter pilots. They were given that name by the Germans. They would fly out at night, their planes were quite, they would strike enemy targets, case destruction then disappear. The Germans were afraid of them. That alone is cool but think of the time period. They were in a way equivalent to the American Tuskegee men which were an all black squadron. To have women in the military that weren't secretaries was something and let alone in Soviet Russia when women didn't have such advantages or privileges. I find this very impressive and only learned out this yesterday after reading the lyrics to this song.

Snakeyes - Ultimate Sin

Chris found this song for me and it is my latest addition to the Gallemotch soundtrack. This is what George dreams about. It fits perfectly for him having a day dream of at last returning back to Hell and being welcomed by his fellow demons.

Falconer - Locust Swarm

The lyrics that first caught my attention were the part about "Who is the demon in human form?" and it made me think of Sorath. But the more I listened to it the more I realized that it also made me think of Thagirion. The Locust Swarm could easily represent him. Substitute the visual image of his spirit birds. And Sorath would kneel and worship him. And lastly the serpent refs fit Quetzlcoatl perfectly. My gosh this is a song about the top three of the hierarchy

Last one for now. samanthafalco this one is for you.

Falconer - For Life and Liberty

This is a song about a hunt. The hunter and the hunted out smarting each other and it really made me think of Charles and Ruger.

For the lyrics go to http://www.darklyrics.com/ The ultimate metal lyrics site. Click the letter of your band then find the song in the album and have fun reading.

Happy 2nd birthday to George! That sky is fantastic and what a unique way to blow out his candles. So George-like. I guess so long as no-one was in the firing range and there were no bullets ricocheting about. Those guns would have been hard to draw and colour.

And that's cool that a song taught you a bit of history. I didn't know that either but it is so cool that Russian women flew planes in WWII.

Des: Happy Birthdaythagirion on April 18th, 2015 02:08 pm (UTC)
Yes happy 2 years. Thanks. I'm very happy with the sky. It's definitely a new way of blowing out candles. Chris mentioned the camera man on his left is probably dead. But he's out in the open desert so looks fine. Yes those guns gave me a very hard time.

Yes I have actually learned many new things from metal that I was never taught in school. I've been amazed.

Chris mentioned the camera man on his left is probably dead: Haha :) Once again, very George-like :)

Hmm, I suppose that this is certainly an interesting information about military history. Something that certainly could come up, if I didn't pick Japanese history as my class for the Modern period (which basically has Russia just joining in at the end to get some of the cake). It is of course to be noted that there is a lot to tell about the Soviet Union at the time that may actually be very surprising, like the here mentioned Night Witches. I may should try to get info on gender studies in Russia, if I have the time. The song is actually quite good as well.

Hmm, I have to say that Ultimate Sin does have a fitting tone for George, though I guess that it would be most likely only Sorath and Leeanix that would be the ones welcoming him back home... well, they can probably also force a few demons to join in to the song, so that they can play all the instruments.

It really is a song about the three. How are the chances for a Swedish metal band having that set up in one of their songs? Well, it is certainly quite a cool song by itself, so that just makes it better.

Well, "for life and liberty" has the usual issue. I knew at least one song would get a GEMA notice, because... well, they are the GEMA, an organization that was not just founded in 1933 but acts like it too.

I was very impressed. They teach you about the Tuskegee air men but I had never heard of this. So that's pretty good. And yes the song is so powerful I just love it.

Poor George. He has this day dream so often. Everyday. Yes those two and Dremalox the space ship who he was friends with. Though as Gallemotch he could easily force others to bow to him. He liked ruling through fear.

It's funny I would hear this song and only the parts that reminded me of Sorath would catch my attention. But then I realized how it fit the three rulers so well I was amazed after reading the lyrics.

Stupid Gema. Well we need to make a list of songs and videos I need to get to you. Perhaps another USB stick is in order.
audes_ljaudes_lj on April 18th, 2015 02:19 pm (UTC)
Another USB? Perhaps not a bad idea for June or next Christmas.

That's certainly an interesting way to blow out the candles. He had to have put his camera on a tripod for that picture.

I didn't know that about the Russian women in WWII. I hope they got recognized for it. Back then they were still weird about women doing things that risked their lives.
Desthagirion on April 18th, 2015 05:05 pm (UTC)
Sure yes. Yes a tripod or a fence post. Works.

I didn't know til a few days ago. I love it when it's metal that teaches me something new.

Happy Birthday, George! I knew him from the beginning because we were already friends then. Ah, memories.

I added that song to my watch later playlist for now. From what you said about the song I'm excited to give it a listen. The fact that it relates to my characters also makes it more fun.
Speaking of metal, I came across the metal song a while back. It's by a Christian metal (I didn't know that was a thing) band called For Today and the song is called "Pariah". It's a bit loud but I really like the lyrics.
Des: Budgiesthagirion on April 19th, 2015 01:57 am (UTC)
Thanks. I'm glad everyone has wished him a happy Birthday. That's cool. So you must have seen when I posted my first drawing of him ever.

I think you'll like it. Reminds me of your story. Plus I thought you'd like the name of the band Falconer. I love finding songs that fit my characters.
Yes. There are MANY Christian metal bands. Gamma Ray and Helloween have Christian themes though they aren't directly Christian bands. I love them. But I'm not a fan of Christian metal. There are a few songs I like. I love Rob Rock's Millennial Rein. Please tell me when you listen to it. I'd like to know what you think.
Samantha Falcosamanthafalco on April 20th, 2015 07:25 pm (UTC)
I can't remember what your first drawing of him ever looked like, but I do recall seeing it.

I think it's cool that the band name is Falconer. I listened to it and I really did picture Charles and Ruger, and I'm so glad you were able to make that connection to my characters. :) It should be their theme song, haha. I only like that one Christian metal song but I want to look into it more. I do like songs with Christian themes but a lot of modern Christian pop sounds a bit silly. I mean, the messages aren't silly but the pop-ish way they deliver it is.
Desthagirion on April 20th, 2015 08:56 pm (UTC)
You did see it. But here it is again. It's called Hey That's Mine.

They have albums with falcons on them sometimes so that's neat. Well I think about my friend's characters during the day and sometimes a cool metal song will pop up like this. I'll be happy to send you some songs if you're willing to listen to them. Everyone I've shared with has liked what I have given.

EDIT: I just realized you changed you name here. When did this happen? I like it better but took me by surprise.

Ah yes I remember now. I did like that drawing a lot and I still do.

I just looked up their album covers. I saw the falcon on the Black Moon Rising cover. Neat. You can send me songs whenever you'd like; I'm always open to new music ... as long as it's not modern pop or rap, haha.

Oh I chnaged it last night. I was going to make it peregrinefalconlady but it was too long. Since that and Samantha Falco are my internet aliases I thought It was more suitable for LJ too.
Desthagirion on April 23rd, 2015 12:20 am (UTC)
Did you have to pay to change your name?
Samantha Falcosamanthafalco on April 24th, 2015 02:00 am (UTC)
Yes. It was $10, but I didn't mind since I'm planning on using LJ more now anyway. So, money well spent I guess. :)
Desthagirion on April 24th, 2015 11:31 am (UTC)
Oh yay, I'm glad you're planning to use LJ more. I need to make a post soon. Yeah it's worth it to have a good name you like. I helped Gamma change her name.
gamma_wingsgamma_wings on April 22nd, 2015 10:40 pm (UTC)
The songs here are neat. I did like the first song. Answering your question from the note, no I didn't know about them before. My dad never told me about them nor did we get to WWII in history yet. But I must say that's a really cool fact. Who would have ever thought that the Russians had a squad of women to attack the Germans? Rather remarkable actually, women were finally treated an awesome job. It's also neat that the Germans feared them, yep I bet they had reason too. :D

It's also neat that you found a song that represents the top 3 demons in the Hierarchy.
Des: Black coffee Black Metalthagirion on April 22nd, 2015 11:08 pm (UTC)
I doubt it will be taught in your history. I bet even your teacher won't know about it. I find this so amazing and it's not the first time I have learned something totally new from metal. I did a google image search for the Night Witches and loved the photos I found. Yeah those kinds of jobs for women back then were just unheard of. Ha, yes the Germans had reason to fear them. They couldn't see them coming.

I love that song for my three bad boys. It's one of my current faves.
gamma_wingsgamma_wings on April 22nd, 2015 11:20 pm (UTC)
I agree. For some reason these types of things... especially if they involve Russians... aren't mentioned. Well I think that these things should be taught as not only are they cool, but also gives you a more "well rounded" view of what other places have done. Well and this example also shows something completely revolution as far as how women are treated goes. Well fortunately we have metal as our "history teacher". I decided to search them up too and yes, they do seem interesting.

LOL I love that icon! I love how absolutely "metal" that dude looks. xD
Des: Bassthagirion on April 23rd, 2015 12:19 am (UTC)
Well it's because Russians used to be the bad guys. But they weren't in WWII. They were our allies. I guess that was just covered up even by the Russians themselves which sucks. But yes thank goodness for metal. Yes very neat photos of them. I love that the Sabaton album cover comes up in that search too.

Hehe, yes that's a guy from the band Immortal. So he is metal. I have no idea if they are good or not. Probably not but someone made this icon and I had to use it because I used to drink coffee and drink it black and melodic black is my fave though very rare to find so yeah perfect icon for me.
