Art progress and stuff in the mail
I'm happy because I feel like I've finally made some progress in my art. I think I'm done inking that first frame at last. I have started to ink the second one but in Illustrator. I went off the page again so I need to ink George there as a vector them scale him into photoshop. The reason I don't just scale down already in photoshop is I worry that that will make the lines fatter and I'll lose detail. So I can just scale the vector then choose the line thickness I want.

I mentioned the pieces from The Rock that were used by two metal bands. Well check this out. This is the next best thing to me actually making a spliced together video.

Everything's already cued so just click and stop it at the time I tell you then move to the next one. Remember The Rock was first so Kamelot and Children of Bodom got these from this obscure soundtrack. I wonder if anyone else has noticed this?

The Rock - Rocket Away at 9:09 - 10:05 http://youtu.be/K1VZU6ZnN1I?t=9m9s
Kamelot Until Kingdom Come Intro http://youtu.be/1kE5R6iWcQ8

The Rock - Rock House Jail 0:48 - 1:11 http://youtu.be/xl84mTb_ZkE?t=48s
This theme is used a lot in the soundtrack.
Children of Bodom - Bodom After Midnight 2:07 - 2:30 http://youtu.be/aPeu206mjYc?t=2m7s

Pretty amazing huh?

I got my DVD today and it's all been very disappointing. Well it came so the whole mailed to the wrong state thing is now resolved. No need to fight anymore with the seller. BUT now that I have watched the documentary I was very disappointed. This was one of my high priority videos on my list. I saw the trailer on Youtube and it looked amazing. It was a National Geographic about these guys that for the first time filmed all 39 species of Bird of Paradise in New Guinea. But it wasn't about birds. It was about them. It focuses so much on, "This birds is hard to film." "I need to put my camera in a tree." "It's raining can't film today." Ok that should have been the bonus material for the making of. I got this because I wanted to see the birds and they didn't even show 39 birds. I think they covered 4 in detail. And the "bonus material" had a gallery and there were not 39 birds there either. Some were the the same species. I didn't really learn anything. The cameras were neat. They were canons. And one guy got attacked by a giant millipede which really amused me, but that's not why I bought this video. I hate these new modern documentaries and National Geo has really gone down hill showing stupid drama instead of having education be the focus. They needed to show only the birds, explain what they birds were doing, what the birds were called, what they eat, how they live. So the fact this is the first time they are ever documented doesn't matter because the viewer didn't get to see them or learn anything. I was expecting beautiful footage and nice narration. I'll have to sell this and get some money back for all the aggravation.

At least the other things I ordered are good and I'm happy with them. I still have a small balance left so I must choose wisely what to get next.

OH I got my second A. titan in the mail today so that's good. But both seem a bit soft and I'm worried. I hope they aren't rotting. I hope that I didn't over water mine and that the one that was shipped from Europe isn't over moist from the long trip. Both are just over a year. I hope I don't lose them. I heard from one grower this can happen after a good first year. I'm hoping getting past the second year that I'll be in the clear.

Current Mood: Grumpy

Well, that sounds like you are working well on Renegade today. With the Inking of the frist frame done, I think that it goes quite well.

And in regards to the DVD... let's say I only watch few documentaries because I have my standards. In this case... well, who cares about two guys in a documentary about birds? Or as in this case... a documentary about photographing birds... yeah, I guess it is very clear why you are disappointed. I would be too.

Well, good thing the other things aren't like that.

Agh, the plants hopefully make it. Must be annoying that they came like this.

Yes I'm happy that I feel like this page is finally getting somewhere.

If I'd been looking on how to photograph birds that would be different but it wasn't even that. Yes it was disappointing as it's not what I expected.

Yes I hope they'll be ok. Would be some bad losses if they died.

Eep the music sounds awesome! :D Both the Rock soundtracks and the metal. That's neat how both of those metal bands used soundtrack sections from The Rock.

That's too bad about the documentary. Yes that's certainly a problem with many modern day documentaries, it becomes more of a drama surrounding the people rather than the birds themselves. However the purpose of a nature documentary shouldn't be about the people, but rather the nature itself. So it was rather stupid of Nat Geo to basically brush the birds to the side and focus on the people. Like really, if I wanted to see a reality show I would have bought something that's explicitly one. They definitely should have focused on the birds of paradise, would have made for a better documentary.

I'm glad you liked it and listened to it all. I need to send you some black and death metal then since you like it. Especially with vocals that sound like Thagirion and Sorath. Yeah so even if this was art theft it's so masterfully done I'm not complaining. I'm just amazed they got away with it.

Silly me for expecting to see 39 species of never before seen birds. Sigh. Yes it was a reality show. I feel ripped off. Not by the seller but by Nat Geo themselves. They used to make quality documentaries. This sucked.
