Hat scene from Chapter 3
I drew this in bed today. I'm soooo happy with how lovely this turned out. Gosh I wish I could get around to inking and coloring it. I have started to sit at my desk today but not too long and it kinda made me bad again. Anyway check this out.

Click for full size.
So this is the final scene from No Longer One Chapter 3. It's one of my favorite scenes from the story when George gives Leeanix his hat for the first time. It's too big for her. He's trying to be practical about hiding her but she's thrilled that he gave her something so valuable to him and showed himself to her. She doesn't care it doesn't fit and just wants to play with it. George is puzzled but amused by this.

EDIT: In case you can't read my bad writing.
Leeanix: Wait this can work. Ah, there we go. If I hold my antennas out just right it won't fall in my eyes.
George: Well that defeats the whole point of having a hat.
Leeanix: Thanks, George!

OMG that is the cutest thing ever!!!! I love how excited she looks and the perspective from up over George looking down is great. Really gives a good feel for how their sizes are to each other. I adore this :D

Thank you. I was amazed how quickly I drew this up. I hope to draw key scenes from each chapter of this story. Yes he's so much taller than her. I think I have them to scale in the last frame.

Just cute...I remember when I was a kid that looking down image like how you have Leeanix in the first picture was something that always baffled me. I LOVED that viewpoint and could never figure out how someone could draw that. In fact, the image that is imprinted in my mind that triggered that was from the old Archies cartoon. That kind of perspective always fascinated me and you go and do it ;) Thought you'd like to know that random bit of durp from me lol

Aw thanks. It's called bird's eye view when looking down and it's a perspective technique. Perspectives can be hard. I did it with Ophidius here with his stylus and his birthday pic. The flip side is worm's eye view. I tried to do that in the last frame but didn't pull it off. Wanted to show her view looking up at him. Would have been great if both had worked.

That hat is so big on her. She looks like a little kid who got a hold of her dad's hat.

That's basically what happened.

I love it!

Thanks. One of the nicer scenes from that story.

Those size differences are quite noticable once she stands right next to him. Heck, even his head is bigger looking at how much would fit under the hat. George and Leeanix have builds so opposite to each other, it's always fun to point out.

Also, I always found it nice to see the nice part of George, now less grumpy than with the budgies. You really see that towards Leeanix he is much more friendly than to almost everyone else... except Sorath and 10 (or 9 now, I guess), who are friends of his. To the rest... well, better to stay out of his way and not to provoke him.
Des: George Grinsthagirion on January 13th, 2015 04:18 pm (UTC)
Yes it's a huge difference. He's got over a foot of height on her. Haha that's why she has to hold her antennas out so it kind of didn't work for the hat to hide them. But she doesn't care.

George had to learn to be nice to her. He was still a bit mean at the beginning of the story and he's still grumpy even with her around but she knows how to deal with him and that it's not directed at her. With Sorath and 9 it's different. It's more respect for Sorath as a commanding officer and for 9 I guess because he doesn't tease him and is reasonable when they speak so George respects him that way. The rest he puts in their place with his strength. With Leeanix he actually cares about her and takes on the role of protector.

I see, so it is not actually a friendly demeanor towards the other two, but rather a respectful one. Also, since I now think about it, 9 is a machine, so is his personality a bit more machine-like as well?
Desthagirion on January 13th, 2015 04:47 pm (UTC)
Yes it is out of respect for those two first though as a feeling type he has fond feelings he has to keep to himself. I must write that one scene where it's in modern times and he's asking Solan to have some fun with him. Compared to Solan he comes off as playful.

It's possible 9 is an INTP. I do not know yet but yes he'd come off as level headed like a machine. I kind of picture him like the architect from the Matrix who funny enough is INTP and "architect" is one of the archtypes for that personality.

Hmm, that is certainly an interesting character. I guess the movie is hated, but the villain's emotionless, rational, almost robotic phrases and speech patterns make him likeable somehow. And the calculations of multiple reactions being pictured on the displays make it quite unnerving, in a good way.

I loved the architect. I also like all three movies. I thought it was a great trilogy though they could have picked someone prettier to be the heroine. It's too bad they didn't include the full scene at the end Neo leaves and says, "You better hope we never meet again." And the architect calmly says, "We won't."
audes_ljaudes_lj on January 13th, 2015 06:15 pm (UTC)
I guess I should watch them to get a picture of it myself. It's always hard to say what is bad, if people don't actually elaborate on it that much. This glimpse alone would make the movie quite interesting.
Desthagirion on January 13th, 2015 06:51 pm (UTC)
Well it was a break through for its time because it was the first to use the spin camera technique. That alone made it famous. Every movie that does that can trace its origin to this movie. I also like it because it's indirectly about lucid dreaming although it's about humans learning to wake up in a virtual machine made world. So if you can become aware that everything around you is not real but created you can control it and do anything. But the level of control takes practice and the One is the person that can learn to master it all to save mankind. To me right away this was like my dreams. The villains are cool too especially the rivalry with Neo a feeling type and Agent Smith a very robotic ISTJ. He's a program within the matrix. I think that's all you need to know. Yes they are good movies. I think my fave character was Morpheous Neo's trainer. Lots of action and fight scenes in all three movies too.

This is absolutely adorable!!! The perspective in the first pic is so awesome and intensifies the cuteness, hehe.

Thanks. I thought you might like this. It's so nice and rare to see George being nice.

Aww what a cute comic, I love it! It's so sweet! ^^ I loved this scene. I do like that Leeanix figured out how to wear a hat that's too big for her... despite the fact that it basically defeats the purpose of the hat. But still, this is very cute and I like her innovation. Leeanix's perspective in the first panel is very well done. And the expressions... they're perfect! I love how cheerful Leeanix is, and how serious George is. It would be great to see this inked and coloured.
Desthagirion on January 13th, 2015 10:27 pm (UTC)
Thanks. Leeanix is such a cute character. Yeah she would figure something like that out. Yes George is almost always so serious. I do plan to ink and color. This is meant to be seen in color.
