Gaming again
Bad stuff first which isn't too bad. Chris's truck had a few problems and he had to leave it at the shop yesterday to get it fixed. It ended up being a $900 repair job. But thank God we've done well and we had more than enough in our savings. It is a hit to our savings but not a crippling one and we can recover fairly easily from it. They told us the car still many hundred thousand miles left in it thank goodness. So savings for my truck is still a go. I'm very thankful things have gone well financially this year and I hope they will continue to do so. I need to accept the fact that we probably will not travel next year though I really want to. I'd like to do something for our 19 year anniversary in Feb, but the weather sucks so much in Feb anyway may not be worth to go anywhere in the state. For good weather in Feb you have to leave the country.

Another good thing was that while the truck was being repaired we spent so much time together. We gamed and Chris only got one call yesterday. It was much needed alone time. I have started to play Injustice Gods Among Us. It's a super hero fighting game. I'm loving being the Joker. Gosh he's so much like Ophidius only taller.

I'm almost done on that big drawing I'm working on. I need to finish adding the flats to Quetzalcoatl and then I can start the shading. I hope he won't be too hard. It would be nice to finish this today. I also hope I'm motivated enough to draw some new sketch work. Time's running out.

New Year's Eve is on a Weds so Chris will have that off anyway. That worked out very nicely.
The seed catalogs are really starting to come in now. Gosh I am getting that urge to garden again. I want to grow veggies this coming year. I haven't done any garden stuff because I have not been well but perhaps this year I can try to grow stuff again.

That's a bummer that you won't be able to travel next year! We are planning another cruise and the cost is freaking me out (airfare to New York is not cheap from Western Canada) but we really want ro cruise again and go to Bermuda. It's worth it to live on beans and rice :)

Yeah, it's all about priorities. Yes we could travel but I'd be stranded another year with no vehicle. I've had enough of that. Yes that's how it is. You save all year for it. Hum, I can imagine it would be so much more expensive to fly to the port. I've been looking into flights to Hawaii. It's a lot. The price of the cruise itself might not be so bad but getting there sucks. That's why I haven't wanted to do one from Puerto Rico though I'd love to.

Transportation should always be a priority for sure, especially where you need a good reliable vehicle.

Hawaii would be a dream come true! My friends have been twice and loved it.

I'm sorry about your truck. Why is it that as soon as they are paid off they start to need repairing? At least they told you guys that it has many thousands of miles left in it yet.

I'm sorry you will not get a big holiday next year but maybe you can get a day away somewhere. We all need a break now and then. In the meantime, I'm glad you two got some together time and will get more on New Year's.

That is exciting that you are thinking of growing veges again. I wish you the very best of health now and in the future so that you can grow veges and do all the other things you want to do.

I'm glad to see you again. I have missed you.
Yeah, that does seem to happen. But Chris drives so much for his job so his poor truck gets more wear and tear than normal. Luckily Toyotas are such good quality vehicles built to last.

Yes I'd really like to get away next year. I do think one big vacation a year is needed. I don't know. It's too soon to tell right now but some really good unforseen thing might happen still.

Yeah the pics on the catalogs are so pretty and I'd love some nice gourds and veggies. It's been several years since I did that.

I've missed you, too!

Yeah, I guess your hubby does drive his truck more than most would. Yeah, Toyotas are sturdy and built to last. A good brand!

Yeah, maybe you two can get away for a smaller, more local holiday next year. That would be good. Still plenty of time to check things out. Something may just come to you one day.

It would be so good to see you growing some stuff again! The pics in catelogues and on seed packets sure are pretty!

Ah seeds! I want to get sunflower seeds. I used to have big ones back in the day and miss that. Would you believe that giant pumpkin I transferred is still growing? Another sprouted too in the bed I put the transfer in. They get decent sun, not too blazing, and get watered every night. I will laugh if they actually create a fruit. I'd like to try growing tomatoes. What kind of seeds are you thinking on getting?
Des: Pumpkin in wheelbarrowthagirion on December 30th, 2014 08:07 pm (UTC)
Sunflowers grow easy but the problem is the high phosporous in the soil that makes them bloom early before reaching full size. I've had seeds of 15 foot ones but the most I've ever grown one was seven feet. Far below the mark. But those seeds are everywhere. You can pick them up at walmart. That's awesome about the pumpkin. It may fruit so long as we get no frosts. In the off season is when pumpkins grow because it's cooler, fewer bugs and diseases which ravage them in spring and summer.
I'd like to grow tomatoes, cucumbers, melons and gourds at least. Maybe a few other things.

The bed the pumpkin is in is close to the house and for some reason when we get that awful frost, those plants are spared so maybe there's a chance. I also really baby my sensitive plants at that time so if that is to happen maybe the pumpkins will have a fighting chance. I'll have to get you a picture. It's funny. They're in my bed of purple passion plants and are like the only green in there, but that's the safest spot right now and an experiment. If it works there I know I can clear some of the purples out and make room for pumpkins ;)
