Hillborough State Park
Yesterday was a great day. We did our normal rounds of the dump and breakfast. Then we went to Lowe's and Walmart and picked up some screws, an extendable pole and a few other things. I wanted the pole because I'm going to use it for my GoPro to get selfies and have nice perspectives both on land and underwater. Chris was going to buy me the bike handle bar mount. I like buying things locally sometimes vs waiting for them to ship online. But they were $20. That seemed way too much so I told Chris to hold off and we'd get them on Amazon where they are much cheaper. We came home and he ordered them for $6! So I won't be buying GoPro accessories locally ever again. Now it's just an annoying wait. He also ordered me a standing coat rack. I hope it will arrive with no probs too. I have been wanting one forever and we needed because there are clothes all over the floor and there have been for ages. George would have a fit if he saw our house hehe.

We relaxed and watched some youtube videos then Chris wanted to go to Hillborough State Park. He took me once and I didn't like it at all. Though the rapids were cool there were too many people and cars. We went to where the pool area was. But I figured I'd give it a second chance and it was a great way to use the GoPro. Also I've been trying to figure out just what accessories I would need when we go on our snorkel and kayak tour. There are tons of accessories but for far away trips like that I want to have the minimalist of things to carry. Well we went and had a blast. There was NO one there. Only saw three people on the trail the whole time. Two of them we met as they were leaving when we were entering so great. I filmed the entrance to the park which was very neat. Chris took the majority of photos though I brought all my cameras and I mostly filmed. I also had so much fun using my new Joby Gorilla Pod. That's the tripod that wraps around things. Check these out.

This tripod is great as a pistol grip. Keeps my hands from possibly smudging the lens. It has a decent grip so you can wrap it around rocks, branches and rails like this. Though I would still prefer a stronger grip. This is the cheap small one. I like this enough to get the big one for DSLR cameras. That one might be stronger but this is fine for small cameras that aren't going to be in too much danger. There's also a red action tripod that should have a very strong grip. I'm still amazed I never thought of all the types of photographers I'd fall into the category of action photography. Perhaps I shouldn't be surprised as my art is also action packed. Well I blame it on all those action movies I love so much.

Here's the river that I was filming. It was so lovely here. Unfortunately I was going down a bank and landed on my butt and really hurt the left side where the leg bone goes into the hip. I was worried I wouldn't be able to walk for a while but I climbed back up and sat on a bench for a while until the pain became acceptable. We got it on video from two perspectives. From Chris's view and from my first person perspective on my camera. It's funny how I didn't remember how it happened exactly until I watched the video and it didn't start to really hurt until a few seconds later. I thought I'd be much worse to day but luckily I'm not and there's no bruise like I thought there would be. It still hurts and is sore but nothing like when it first happened. Luckily it did get well enough I was able to still walk around and enjoy the park. I could have walked further of course if I hadn't done something stupid like that. Today it feels like there's a ball in there when I sit and move around.

I spotted this banded water snake in a creek. So cute. I like that I captured the minnows around him as that's his prey.

Chris had the idea to attache the GoPro to a palm frond. He's putting it down the hole of this tree because we wanted to film it. The video didn't turn out great. We needed a flash light but still the possibilities with this camera are endless and so fun.

So I've been watching other vacation videos of people with GoPro cameras. I love seeing happy couples like us going on adventures. Nice to see there are other people that have what we have. But at the same time again it bothers me I can't show pics of myself in public. We got some great footage of us yesterday and I'm considering making a youtube channel under a name that has nothing to do with us. Like not one of my characters or our names. Something silly perhaps like Bird Adventures. It would have no connections to my other accounts so people wouldn't know it's me and I'd only share links with you guys in private. But I don't know I'm still really scared to do that. Or should I just post them privately on my main account and share them privately. I'm so pretty it's a shame I can't show myself. It really is. But just yesterday a friend on DA had his photo stolen and a guy was impersonating him. That's identity theft. Very bad. That's the kind of thing I fear exposing myself in public online. I've always been torn about this though. :( Advice please?

I'm glad that you had a wonderful day and that Chris talked you into going to Hillborough State Park again. I'm so glad there were no people there. I wished that for you when you went to Machu Picu.

Cool idea to put the camera down a palm frond hole!

Yeah, you can never be too careful on the internet. I would share them privately.

Yes it was great to have it all to ourselves. Ha that would rock about Machu Pichu but it won't happen. It's famous to the world and busy all year I'm sure.

Yeah, I probably will keep them private if I do that. I get these really bad feelings when I think about it. Like I let down my guard.

Oh yes, I think Machu Pichu would be busy all year round :)

Very nice, my dad also has such a camera. He mostly uses it when he makes trips with his motorbike then it is attached to his helmet.
I finally got a new camera also, my old one broke weeks ago unfortunately. It's just a Canon Powershot SX270 HS because I was so used to my old Powershot's options and menues already. XD I still dislike it that the compact ones are all that slim, they lie so bad in the hand and when I need a flash I hardly know where to put all my fingers at all. I know I could have bought a bigger one or even a SLR but they were too expensive for my taste.

Have much fun with your GoPro.

Hmm if you don't feel good at a 100% about posting videos showing you then I think you should not do it. You should have fun with it and not have worries because of it.

Nice to see you here again. Congrats on the new camera. I love my cameras but I have never liked any of them at first. It takes time to get to know a camera just like people before you become friends with them. Which color did you get? I love my Canon Powersho SX170 IS. It's bigger than most point and shoot and has lots of features. But I didn't like it at first and took me a while to get used to. I didn't like my GoPro either but now I love it. Chris didn't like his new Canon either but now loves it a lot. New cameras are weird that way.

GoPros are awesome and perfect for things like what your dad does. They are easy to put on helmets, motorcycles, bikes, boats. I can't wait to use it on my Halloween vacation.

Yeah I am not 100% that's for sure but it also bothers me I can't show myself. I see these happy couple on vacations and wish it was us. We have those nice trips but I can't really show videos of it. I always have to cut myself out. :(
