Vet trip
The trip to the vet went very well. We put the cage in the back and I carried Latte in my lap.

She loved the car ride over and kept watching things go by the windows. She was very calm. But like all doctors the vet made us wait forever. I don't know why they do this. There were no other patients, the front desk wasn't busy with ringing phones and the back rooms were quiet. Why make you wait an hour from your appointment? I hate that about all Docs.

So we showed Latte pics on Chris's phone and my my camera. Everyone was amazed how calm she was and what a good girl she was. Some people didn't know she was a bird and asked what she was. I explained what an Olive Egger chicken is. She was a big hit with everyone. I was also very proud they told me I put the splint on well. They took an X ray and her leg was broken all the way through. But it was a clean break with no other fractures. So they were able to splint it and they gave me antibiotics to feed her in a syringe. That will not be fun.

The splint I put on was just pink. This one is pink with purple hearts. Haha.

Today she seems better. I need Chris to help hold her when I give her her medicine. I have her out on the floor to sun herself. It's a shame she's going to miss out on important socialization with the others since the pecking order is being established and they are learning to sleep in the coop. She has to be indoors for a month. And next week she goes back for a new cast.

Last night I got a bad pain in my left deltoid. I think it's from the excersice. The rowing motions I've been doing. I got really scared. But I haven't done that in a few days. Still I'll cut back for a few days and only do my 2-3 minutes of stair climbing. I hope it will pass and isn't a new ailment. I need my arms for my art. But my shoulder and neck hurts. So I'm still not well then.

Come Sept I will start to decorate early for Halloween. I won't go all out because we won't be here but because it's hard for me to do things I now have to do holiday stuff ahead of time. You wouldn't believe how long it took me to take down the Easter stuff. It's very hot and I'm looking forward to Fall and the cooler weather. I'm ready for pumpkin season.

What a sweet chicken she is. A soft and cuddly lap bird.

It's been rainy here. It hasn't seemed like August because it hasn't been constantly 100 degrees and humid. The temps were actually pleasant on my birthday.

Yeah she's been a sweety.

Hehe, August is our hottest month so it's typical weather here. We didn't get the storms like last year which kept the summer cooler than normal.

I'm glad the vet trip went well except for the wait. That's so nice that Latte is so tame. Chooks are so observant. I love how her new bandage is pink with purple hearts :) Yeah, she will not like taking her medicine :(

I'm sorry you have pain started again. Hopefully it's from the rowing. I didn't know you were doing stair climbing and rowing exercises. Are you doing your daily walk?

I hope the cooler weather will help you and you can get some of your decorations out.

It was funny how she looked at the phone. And everyone liked her which was nice. That bandage is so funny and cute.

Yeah I don't know what's going on. My neck and shoulder on the left side hurt not. It's slightly different today. Might just be fibro. Yeah I mentioned I was doing mild exercise a while back. Stair climbing in place by just lifting my legs and rowing with a staff while standing.

Yeah me too. It will be nice to get a break from the heat. Wish it would always stay like Fall or Spring. The other two seasons are too extreme.

That's a really good chicken then.
Good luck for the recovery there.
It's always the same with waiting times at doctors, the only exception I know there is my dentist XD, he does not even let me sit down in the waiting room.

And I hope that you will also feel better soon.

Yes she's very nice. It seems to be going very well so far.
I have found that too. I haven't waited much with dentists the few times I have been.

Ugh, yes, the waiting...my dentist is oddly always on time though.

Giving any bird medication is always "fun", but good on you for loving a pet so much to take her to the vet :-)

Yeah, it makes no sense. Perhaps that's why we are called "patients."

I'm thankful money has been good the last two years. Before that things would not have been so good. If money were no option every bird would get taken when something goes wrong.
