New AC, guitar, Pet of the Day and new plants coming
Got a new AC window unit for the living room window. Ever since we moved into this house in 2007 the AC would run out of freon. We would just have the guy refill it. The leak was small enough it did last the whole year. But last year it ran out around early October. Thank goodness things were cooling off by thing. But it ran out way too soon after we filled it. That means the leak got bigger. Instead of 9 months it ran out in like 4. Not worth the price anymore. But we have an old unit and just to find the leak was like $400 and then they'd have to find the parts to fix it which would be very hard if not impossible. They want us to get a whole new unit and pull out what's in the attic. Sorry but I have better ways to spend $6000 than on an AC unit.

So last night we went to Lowe's. It's been getting hot way too early this year. It's already in the 90s. That's not a problem so long as you have AC. So I've been putting up with the terrible heat for weeks now. Every year I have to put up with the heat for up to a month or two til I save up to have the freon refilled. This time it was to get the new window unit installed. Well they were supposed to call to set up for an appointment. But we were out yesterday morning on our usual garbage run and then to have breakfast on our day off. Chris called them back and the number they used doesn't work. We called Lowe's and since they subcontract the labor they gave us a number to call. That didn't work. Chris found them on the website. Three numbers two don't work one did and he left a message. But I was literally getting sick from the heat and having taken it so long. So he went to Lowe's and got the money back on the "install". He brought the unit home himself and together we rigged it up and installed it. I'm good at wood working so I cut the 2x4's and plywood and we did it ourselves. It's a temporary thing we have because the plywood cuts visiblity on my favorite window next to the birds. I'm hoping we can get some plexiglass or something clear later on. But for now we just need cold air so that's more important. I did make one dumb mistake. I didn't take off the window clings for Easter and now they are stuck forever because the window is up and covered by the inside glass.

But the good thing is the living room feels great now!! We set up some fans to direct air into our rooms which is where we spend most of our time. Ideally we'd need a unit in each room but I do hate to loose the visibility. We can't afford it anyway and the fan seem to be working. We have a 90 degree turn in the hallway so cooling the two rooms is the hardest things. But I am so relieved. Because it's been so hot I have not been in the mood to do anything creative wise. My tablet would get gross from my hands sweating so I couldn't do digital art. It was too hot to concentrate on drawing anything and writing was a chore. My computer really heats up the room too so it's hard to work on it. So no motivation but lots of ideas wanting to burst out. So I hope that now I can get back to working on stuff and cranking out art.

I got my hair gel in the mail yesterday. I was so happy. It was a day of deliveries. Chris got his guitar. I was anxiously awaiting that too. Check this out.

It's a Cordoba classical guitar.

Here it is next to his old one on the left. The new one sounds so good and looks so good too. I really like it a lot.

I ordered a rare Sarracenia called Hurricane Creek. It's a leucophylla and all white and green. No red. I'm excited and can't wait to get it. It hasn't shipped yet but probably will on Monday.

And now I'm starting to learn about hoyas and want more. I already found two I really liked and ordered them from a guy in St. Pete. One is called Hoya cinnamomifolia. I think I'll just call it a cinnamon hoya. It is awesome because the flowers are bright green with purple or dark red centers. Image. The other one I ordered is Hoya archoboldiana. Image. I like this one because the flowers look like octopus suckers. So that's very exciting.

And good news. Someone saw Bullet's pics on DA and contacted me. They are the owners of the website Pet of the Day and Bullet got nominated and is today's Pet of the Day. Check this out Bullet Pet of the Day May 1, 2014. I'm very happy about this. I'm also rather amazed. I have put up pics and videos of my other budgies but none have gotten the attention and love that Bullet has. I wonder why she is so popular?

So Happy May everyone. Wow today starts the last month of Spring.

Those Hoyas are neat. I trimmed some dead leaves off of Pet Plant. That poor thing had a rough winter, but I did find one growth tip that was still alive.

I know why Bullet is popular. She's pretty, a rare mutation, and she's got the perfect balance of sweet and attitude. Also people got to watch her grow up from your pictures of her.

Yeah, I'm rather interested in them now. Oh glad pet plant is outside now. I think it will be much happier now that it's safe out there. It will recover and make pitchers again in time.

That's true. Even though I had Protist from a baby too I never documented her like this. Here's a photo of her looking at the screen. http://fav.me/d7gp4c5

I need to go check it and water my herbs. One died in the cold snap a couple weeks ago, but I think the others will recover. The peas are cold-tolerant, and I brought pet pant inside during it.

That's an adorable picture.

That is an awesome pic of Bullet because she has all those hearts going out behind her and because of her cute pose. Congratulations on getting Pet of the Day, and first of May, too!

I'm glad you got new air con. You will be so relieved. That's awesome that you installed it yourselves. The service was terrible.

I really like the look of that Wax Hoya. I can see Earthmother has given you an new addiction!

And cool that Chris has that new guitar. Maybe I can recommend that one to Mr Cleverhands who wants a new guitar?

Yes it's wonderful now. Yeah not impressed with service or lack thereof.

Hehe yeah don't know if it's an addiction yet but I do want to get some of the more strange looking species.

Yes definitely. Cordoba is a wonderful company for classical guitars.

Oh, okay, I'll pass that information about Cordoba guitars on to Mr Cleverhands. Thanks!
