Getting better
I've been in bed mostly. I have had very bad runny nose, crying eyes, itchy teeth and sneezing. Sore throat went away pretty quick though. Chris got me a decongestant that worked pretty well but only last four hours. I thought I needed antibiotics so today we went to the walk in clinic. The doctor said it's not a cold but I have allergies. WTF? How can that be. I have never been allergic to anything. I've always been very pleased with how good my immune system is and the only allergy I have had is a food one. Nothing airborne. Nothing's changed and I've lived in Florida all my life. There really is no reason for anything to change. I also didn't like that the doc seemed to be in a bad mood today. I heard him lecturing another patient and then he shooed us out the door quickly when I was still trying to think of questions. He gave me a nasal spray and some eye drops. Ok, I'll give those a try. I do feel better today though. I am actually up and about and haven't been weak in bed. But yes the symptoms are different than the normal colds I have had. No fevers no thick mucus. It's been pouring out like water. It's clear like normal tears. But yeah my eyes, nose and teeth have felt like they were on fire and being stabbed. You guys know how I hate crying and gosh it was like water falls. So hopefully I'll completely recover soon. I miss being active and doing stuff around the house. I have lost so many days for art. But I did get drawing done and finished page 3 of Renegade. Actually let me see about getting that uploaded. Eh, I'll make a separate post for that.

You can develop allergies, but I don't know how it works. It also could be just because it's been a bad year. Mine were terrible last fall even though the only pollen I'm allergic to is one that comes in the spring.

Yes I have heard that. But I really hope he's wrong. I hope this is just a really weird cold with only half the symptoms. We'll just see how it goes. If it is an allergy I want to have a test done to find out specifically what it is from.

Oh dear, I hope whatever it is clears up fast. I hate when doctors are grumpy like that. Mine was with me a while back and it really put me off him.

Thanks. He was a bit out of it today too. He asked me to take my glasses off because he wanted to check my eyes. Then he wanted me to do the test of touch my nose and touch another object. I couldn't see and told him I'd do better with my glasses. He goes, "You were glasses." I almost said, "Yes the ones you asked me to take off."

Oh my goodness, I didn't expect it to be that! But thinking on it, the grumpy, absent-minded doctor might be right. He reminds me of Doc Martin :)

Yeah, I would have rather it been a cold. I wonder how long this will last. I'm used to colds and flu. The routine is always the same. I don't know what to expect with this. I also only got colds like once every two or three years. I don't want this to be a regular thing now.

I can see why you don't want this to become a regular thing! It would be good to track down that one plant that is causing it (hopefully there is only one) and be able to destroy it.

I'm sorry to hear that you're still feeling unwell. It's interesting about the allergies though. When I lived in Queensland, we had two mango trees behind our house so they were something I grew up with. When I moved to Darwin with 100 mango trees, I ended up developing an allergy to mango flower pollen. It seemed pretty random. I hope that you feel better soon. I find over the counter antihistamines help with most allergies. Just a tablet in the morning and you're right for the rest of the day on those days where things are making you irritable.

Wow that sucks. Yeah if you're around a certain tree it shouldn't get to you. The ones I have are tiny tablets and I'm supposed to take two at once. They work pretty well but I don't like that they just mask the symptoms and not cure them. I hope the stuff the doc gave me is a cure.
