Art from my trip and video
Ok, I have two pics I want to share of some sketches I made while on vacation. I'm very proud of these so please do comment.

Ok drew all this stuff on one page. All of it was inspired by my trip. I drew most of these in my room. As you can see George and Ophidius were my biggest inspirations. Well after having gone to Quetzacoatl's temple it's no surprise. I'm very happy with these. In the upper left is George with a caterpillar. He's saying
Hey there handsome. Hungry huh? Yeah me too

I also drew a simple doodle of Gallemotch on a wall about to drop down on a victim. I saw some caterpillars on Haiti of the Tetrio Sphinx Moth. These things were huge. Almost 7 inches. I was just amazed. That day on Haiti was one of the best because of that and of all the new birds and bugs I saw.

Next in the upper right is Ophidius sitting on one of the Mayan heads of himself. One of the Quetzalcoatl statues at his temple. Yeah he hasn't been there in centuries. Fun for him.

On the left is a bird and it says Palmchat hero. He's saying
I'm Superman. I will save you.. I think that pose is very heroic with the big chest and wings like he has his hands on his hips all cocky. The Palmchat is only found on the island of Hispañola so I was happy to see this rare bird. They are dark green on top with dark yellow beaks and dark red eyes.

Next is Ophidius looking at the statue of himself eating a Mayan. He's saying
Oh yeah. Now I remember eating that guy. Wanted him to see everything til the last minute
And lastly in the lower right is Quetzalcoatl being all coy and silly. I got very lazy on the cobra head. I like this because other than the lazy part I drew him very fast and very well. Also he's calm so all his feathers on his head and neck are folded against his body. He's not displaying. I've never drawn him like that. So lots of inspiration on this trip.
Oh and I drew a generic sea bird.

Ophidius is a jerk and he's actually proud of his ugliness. When he finds George and Cope walking around he sneaks up behind them and grabs them, pulling them in close. They aren't happy about it as you can see. Two things I find funny about this. One no one is denying they are ugly. My two introverts just want to be left alone and not be put in the spot light. Two, both these guys have guns and are dangerous to Ophidius. He doesn't seem to have noticed. George is fast on the trigger and he's so angry he's about to kill Ophidius right now. It's the first time I've drawn George with his coat back and you can see one of his guns. I love Ophidius's expression. This will be a fun one to color. I have had this idea for weeks now. I drew this while on vacation in my room on the ship. So this is another vacation piece.

I just realized today is the 4th. Another anniversary. I'll have to call Chris and tell him. The time changed on the 2nd. My watch is all messed up and got set to militarily time which I can't read. I'm glad we went on vacation before the time change or we would have set sail at night instead of day and wouldn't have had this great video. I feel much better today. More rested but I think I need one more day to recover before I get back into things. I have so many photos and videos to work on still.

I watched that video yesterday, and then I Googled your ship you were on. I would love to explore it. Even the interior staterooms that cheapskates like me and my family would get look really nice. Not that I wouldn't be secretly wishing for a window the whole time.

I love the palmchat. It's so cute. I love Quetz's design even if he's a complete jerk. I do wonder what George's dotted line speech bubble means in the ugly guys picture. I noticed George's fingernails are showing on his right hand. I guess that is an oversight, unless he has a glove that has the fingertips cut out of it. One of them ought to turn around and just let Ophidius have it. It would be funny if Cope got him first. I don't think I've ever seen him actually shoot anyone with the death ray. You may have drawn him shooting it, but I don't know that I've seen it hit somebody.

I'm glad you liked the video. Yeah when I went to explore the hallways I saw some of the interior staterooms. They were similar to ours only without the window. I find it funny they all have a circular mirror to make it feel like a porthole. There are also balconies and windows that face the interior of the ship. It's not ocean view but if you don't mind a lot of people walking around and neighbors across the way those could be nice too. Like these for instance

I really love these palmchat birds now too. Thanks. He's definitely a pretty monster and he knows it. That may be why he doesn't mind being an ugly man. He knows what he really is. Ah, he's whispering those words loudly. George is actually fairly soft spoken. Dotted bubbles in comics are whispers, normal lines are normal speech and clouds with circles are thoughts. Yeah that's a screw up. In human form he'd be wearing his glove though I wonder if it would be hard to shoot with a glove on? George is the most likely one to just let Ophidius have it without thinking. Cope would hesitate and think and second and triple guess himself. His gun is faster though because it's a ray. Yeah, I don't think I've ever drawn him actually nailing anyone with it. I should do that. Probably Owen since that's who can push him to the edge. Well they both do it to each other. Though Chris came up with some funny dialog where George convinces Cope to help him shoot Ophidius.

Thanks for telling me about the speech bubbles. I don't read a lot of comics so I hadn't seen that.

Owen would be a good choice for Cope to shoot with the ray gun. Cope is the one who is usually getting his butt handed to him when he and Owen fight. I'd like to see him give it to Owen for once.

No prob. Sometimes the bubbles can be strange shapes to show emotions or sound effects too. In my Night Crawler pic I made them thick and melty to show fear.
EDIT: Oh and Chris reminded me. Rectangles are narrative.

I drew a pic a long time ago called Jet Shoe Kick where Cope is winning. But yeah I should draw something else. I don't think I have ever drawn the death ray even firing only powering up. It's got a cool blue beam so I should show that. All of Cope's inventions give off blue energy like his shoes because they are the same power source he invented.

I saw that picture. I remember the blue beams from the jet shoes. There are other pics I've seen of Cope with his ray gun. I think my brain might have smashed some images together. I can keep your budgies straight but not all of your artwork.

Yeah I do that too sometimes. Actually quite a bit. With TV shows sometimes I remember my own versions that never happened. Embarrassing in conversations. I'm glad you can keep my budgies straight because I can't hehe. So we'll help each other out because I pretty much have all my art memorized.

It's so awesome how everyone waved you off! I want to go on a cruise now! I love your room!

Yeah that was pretty neat. It must be a big thing for them to watch the ship leave once a week. Especially those that live there. You definitely should. It was a very nice room. So worth it for that view everyday.

Great video, thanks!

No prob. Thanks for watching.

I like your sketches. Wanted his to see everything until the last minute, lol :) Also the one of Ophidius putting his arms around George and Cope. Ophidius is too compulsive or something. He will get himself in trouble one day. I can hear George's whisper. It's sort of raspy.

I can hear Chris's delight in his voice when seeing the ship. I love how big your room was.

Thanks. Ophidius is nuts. Yes he's also very spontaneous. He does get in trouble often. Yes, that's a great way to describe it. He actually has a raspy voice.

Yeah he was so excited when we were pulling into the port the first time. That room was great. Big difference from the last time.

I love the sketch of George talking to the caterpillar (I find it very sweet!), and Cope's reaction to being pulled into a hug by Ophidius. :)
Des: Cope Nervousthagirion on November 7th, 2013 12:03 am (UTC)
Thanks. Yeah he has some feelings for fellow bugs. Hehe yeah, no one likes to be hugged by Ophidius. Poor Cope is freaked out.
