North Carolina Vacation
I'm very excited right now. I just booked my trip to North Carolina in July on an Amtrak train. I'm still trying to get over the sticker shock of what I just paid, but I will get over it. The rates actually went down for some reason. I don't know why but now I'm glad I waited this long. You never know when these things will happen. I got paid today so I had enough to book it without going totally broke. I will be visiting my good friend actipton80. I will email you the details after this post. I need to make a new icon for train travel. I have never been on a passenger train so this will definitely be a new experience for me. I didn't want to deal with airplanes since air travel sucks now with the security. Plane travel is not fun like it used to be and I don't want to deal with all the lack of privacy issues I have been hearing about. An over night trip on a train sounds like a great relaxed way to go and I get to see the sights an will travel through three states. I think I will also get to color South Carolina on my Map since I will pass through it and get to see a good bit of it. That means I'll have the whole Eastern Seaboard colored on my map. YAY!

I also got a AAA discount of 10% which helped bring down the price. I need to call AAA though because I lost my member card. Chris has his but mine has vanished for some reason. I hope they don't charge me for a new one. The reason it was so expensive was because of the rooms I booked on both trips. Had I just gotten the seats it would have been a lot less, but we were worried about my back and I don't want to go there just to be hurt and in bed. Also the privacy of your own room will be great. These are tiny rooms, but I don't care and I do get a seat too if I want to go out. There's a viewing area and a lunch area. Meals are included in the price of the ticket and they serve nice food. Here is a nice little video review of the room.

They have wifi on the train so I will be able to stay in touch. I'm looking forward to doing a video skype call with Chris before I go to bed. What a great birthday vacation this will be! Chris has been wonderful and very supportive telling me he wants me to do this trip and that I should go.

Yesterday I drew up an ID for my photography account on DA. I drew Ophidius with my camera all psychotic looking. I love how it turned out.

The double meaning is that he's the bird since he's a quetzal. I LOVE how this turned out. BTW, that's my camera he's using.
I have those sunflower photos so I want to share those as well now. And the pond pics.

This is the new pond I made out of the pink pool. I REALLY want to replace the banana lilies I lost, but I can't afford to buy anything from here out. I tortured myself by going on an aquarium website that sells live plants and saw so many cute mini water lilies I want at good prices. UGH!

Here it is under the nepenthes arbor. I had a bit of a bad incident yesterday I was upset about. Henrietta caught one of the goldfish and killed it. I saw her running around with it in her mouth and the other hens were chasing her. I chased her, caught her and took it away from her. But it was too late to save it. I don't now how she caught it or if it had jumped out or what. They have been drinking out of it. So I need to clean the old pond and put all the fish back in that one. I will only put smaller fish and fish that I don't care about as pets in this pond then. So I learned something new. It's possible chickens know how to fish. I didn't even have that poor fish one day. I was very upset.

These are wild sunflowers. If you are familiar with my journal you'll know every year I love seeing the phlox come out as well. Those are the pink, purple and white flowers that cover the ground. But when the sunflowers come out and add yellow it's gorgeous and make our roads so nice.

Chris pulled over and I had so much fun walking through these. They are small flowers but just as tall as the domestic big headed sunflowers. I think these were 7 feet tall.

So pretty!

Chris waiting for me. This is so cool!

This is the other fish I bought. It's smaller than the one that got eaten. I liked the colors on this one better. I need to replace the one that got lost.

I started to record Stunt Dawgs on DVD yesterday. I think I have 10 eps now and still on the first tape. Unfortunately some of the eps on the other tape have the ends missing because I had the VCR on timed record and when it would stop it would stupidly rewind a little and I didn't know it was recording over the ends. So some of the eps aren't complete. I plan to eventually splice them together with the eps Cheezey sent me. Between the two of us I think we have all the eps. Her sound quality is better too so I plan to "remaster" them and add her soundtrack to my eps. But must finish transferring first. I'm so happy to watch these again. Oh yes, I still love Fungus as much as ever. He really made the show. Needham the lead her has no personality. He's your typical boring hero that he's there to save the day because it's his job and that's what he does.

So I did almost everything I wanted to do yesterday. The only thing I didn't have time for was writing. Today I must find time to write something, and work on any of the Ophidius stories.

I love travelling on trains. They feel relaxing somehow and you get to see different parts of the countryside that you don't by road.
Your plants look good! And I love the sunflowers. The fish is cute. Will you name it?
Good luck with the recording. Its always nice to watch through old shows again.

I have never been on a long distance train. I'm so looking forward to this. Trains aren't really used much here like they are in Europe. After planes Americans use cars more. So it will be a new experience. I'm looking forward to all the new sights.
Thanks. These are wild sunflowers. They're growing everywhere on the roads now. No, I don't want to get attached to the fish. I lost Bruce over the winter and that was very sad.
The recording is going great. I'm loving this. I feel like I've gone back in time.

July is just around the corner! I'm excited for you. Trains are my favorite form of transportation. I've yet to ride Amtrak, but I have traveled in Europe by train and for a few years here used the commuter train. I find it quite relaxing.

Gorgeous flowers!

Yes. I changed all my calendars yesterday. I like changing them the day before. So just a little over a month away. I think riding the train will be a very fun thing for me.
I love all those road flowers. Everything's so pretty right now.

Enjoy your trip on the train! You will get to see more of the country than you would by air. I hope your visit with actipton80 goes well :) How exciting and what a great birthday present! it is so nice of Chris to encourage you to go, too.

I love your Id for dA. The lense on that camera is very realistic looking. I love the double entendre, too :)

I love the flowers. Flowers make us happy!

And aaaw...your poor little fishie :(

I will. Yes, I think it's funny you get to see more on a train than a plane. I think this will be fun.

I'm glad you like it. I wanted the lens to look realistic so I'm glad it turned out well. Ophidius is full of double and triple meanings when he speaks.

The roads are so pretty right now.
I was very upset about how the fish died.
