Visited a new park
Yesterday was nice. Chris got the day off. We started by visiting the doctor for a follow up on my finger. It still hurts but the swelling is gone. He recommended a hand specialist and jumped the gun and made the appointment for us. I had to cancel because it wasn't a day Chris can drive me out. Now that I'm off the antibiotics I'll give it a little and see if it is ok on its own and if not then we will make an appointment with the other doctor.

Had our usual breakfast at IHOP and it was very good. We came home to rest a little then went out to check out a park we'd never been to. I don't remember the name of it, but there are a lot of hiking trails and looks like sometimes they are open for hunting. I think it's the wild pig populations they control in there. They are not native and cause problems. We were a little unprepared though and it was very hot. But I did get to see some nice plants, but not many birds. We got home and measured on Google Earth what we walked. It was about 2.2 miles. But it felt like 6 miles with that sun. We do want to go out there again.

Went to Kmart and Radioshack but didn't find anything of interest. Well some cute 4th of July stuff that I may go back and get today. Radioshack is over priced on some things. The Canon camera I want there was like $20 more than everywhere else and at Best Buy they have it in a bundle for a little more than that and it comes with a tripod and case. I don't think I can afford a new camera this year though. Speaking of affording things. Today is payday. Need to do some math and I might be able to get some really cheap books from Amazon. The ones I want around around $3-6 each. Not bad.

I have been uploading a bunch of pics to Deviantart. It's been fun. I've had a few people ask me that want to move there if it's ok and they are worried their pics aren't "artsy" enough. DA doesn't care. It's other users that have a hissy fit about that but they can't do anything about it. All photos are art. Whether it's good or bad art is another matter though. Personally I can't stand artsy photos that have had tons of filters added to them. I think they are ugly and I can't see what's really there. To me a photographer's skill is how he uses his camera to get the shot right without having to use photoshop. When I see photos that have had things like grain, canvas, neonglow, black and white etc. added to them I think WHY? The photo's been ruined. Like I said, I can't see what's really there now, the colors are no longer true to life and you've purposely gone and covered up your photo. Now I think it's ok to use photoshop if the pic came out wrong and say you want to fix something under exposed or some other problem like that. That's fine. Or to restore photos on film that have faded with time. This is good. But why would you purposely fade something? When I see a beautiful action shot of a bird in flight it needs no "help". So don't worry about that. The pics of my toys certainly aren't artsy and I have seen those up a few times on other accounts.

Yeah, I have seen all sorts of pictures on DA under the photography category so they should be fine. I agree, it sucks when filters are over-used and ruin an otherwise nice photo. Sometimes less is more.

Good luck with your finger!

Yeah, when Chris first started using it he was worried he couldn't because he wasn't an "artist". I told him upload photos. You have a camera and that's art. All is good. So now he's having fun with it.

Now I know where to go to look at your pictures. As long as you can still link them to here, I don't care where you store them. I don't care for heavily photoshopped "art photos" either. I want to see how good people are with a camera not how good they are with Photoshop.

By the way, Orbitz has cheap plane tickets right now. I did a search, and the trip up here with your planned dates is $246 round trip with one stop each way.

My Search

Yes, I can link them though I'll have to do it manually. I am going to move most of my photos there, but since I did pay for flickr I will still use it some to get my money's worth. If there is such a thing. Screen caps aren't allowed on DA, and now I need to upload the youtube one since they too are changing again. I'm glad you agree. That's what I think also.

Oh wow, thanks for looking that up. I'd still love to take a train for the new experience though, but I will keep this in mind. I redid the search for a morning times on the 15th and return on the 20th. Let me talk this over with Chris. Though I have been avoiding planes I may do it this way. United isn't so bad. With the cruise in Fall, it's doesn't seem freezable to me and I'm getting very stressed I haven't booked my flight/train with you yet.

EDIT: Look how cool this would be.

I hope your hand gets better soon.

I love going to places I've never been before. One day I want to take the car and just travel around and explore local places I haven't been to before.

I agree. Filters are usually overdone in photos. Some look good when done well but the majority just look fake.

Thanks. I wish it would just go back to normal.

So do I. I love seeing new places even if it's close by.

I had a girl on DA ask me to look at her gallery because she likes birds of prey. Well all the hawk pics were all filtered I couldn't see the birds. So I only commented on her lineart which I enjoyed way better.

hat's nice that you got to go to a new park near your place. That is, new to you guys. I'm sorry it was so hot, though. You walked a fair way.

I'm glad the swelling is gone in your finger. It does sound like an infection set itself up in there. I hope you can get to a specialist when Chris has a day off.

It doesn't seem long ago that you got your last camera! So, I guess waiting another year won't hurt. Your trip (holiday) comes first!

$3-$6 for some books sounds like a good price, though.

Yes, I like finding nice new places.
Yeah it wasn't that long it seems, but it doesn't seem to take as nice of pics. It's been over a year at least. May-be two.
Yeah, but I didn't buy anything after all. I'm still saving.

It'll be worth it for you holiday!
