Sketches for Ophidius's turn sheet
Today was a day off. We got part of our tax return which was a very nice unexpected surprise. We mostly stayed home and took it easy. I found out my Nepenthes post gets too much sun on the south side, so I will have to extend the shade plastic on both side. I think I know how. It won't look as nice as it does now, hopefully it will work well enough so my south facing plants aren't getting burned.
I'm behind on commenting here. I'll try to catch up tomorrow.

I'm very happy to have drawn everything I need today for Ophidius's turn/character sheet. Check these out.

The first one looks funny because I drew him with his wings folded. The little covert feathers wrap around his chest just like they do on a quetzal, because they are quetzal wings after all. I like that when he first closes his wings the wrap around his arms if he has his arms at his sides. Until he moves them then the go to his sides.

The back view shows his folded wings. I will ink him with and without them so people can see how they work. The last two are this other time period outfits. I know the second one looks stupid. It's not my taste, it's his. I was telling Chris that it sucks he looked that way for so many centuries. He didn't always wear the hat though. Those feathers are his own quetzal feathers. He pulled them out of himself and it hurt. I don't know what color that outfit is yet. I need to try different colors in photoshop and see what I like that he would like that doesn't match and looks kind of bad. It's tempting to stick with the coral and light blue since those are his favorite colors, but I don't know. I think colors of clothes were darker in the past. We'll see. I don't have anything for 1700's. Need to make something up. I also don't have much of a story for that century, so it's probably why I have no vision of it. I need to play Assassin's Creed again to get ideas for that period. I LOVE his 1800's outfit though. You've seen him wearing that already. I guess I like it because it's starting to look like his modern suit which of course is my fave. Oh and I got lazy and just didn't draw in his pupils so that's why he looks even more evil. I'm just going to use the same line work from the first front view anyway so I didn't bother to keep drawing his facial features over and over.

Lastly his knives over the centuries. He's never liked the first one. It's poorly made and the handle is just wrapped in rope. But he likes the nasty point on the butt. The 1800's knife was much better and he was kind of attached to those. But the modern stilettos he's in love with. They have blue marbled handles and he takes very good care of them. At that point he's learned to hold onto them no matter what happens to him. He's had a few instances were his own knives were turned against him. Not good...I just had a vision of him blocking a sword by crossing his two knives. I think he'd kick his enemy below the belt at that point since both their hands would be busy. Then it would be easy for him to take him out. I'm glad I drew these as a reference for myself too, because so far I've drawn his knives wrong in all the pics I have made because I didn't have a set design. Gosh, I need to make these types of turn sheets for all my characters.

Your drawings turned out very good. I like how much thought you are putting into this. I loled when you said he pulled out his own feathers for his costumes and it hurt :)

I'm glad you have thought of a solution for extending the roof on your post. You can't have your Nepenthes getting burnt!

Thanks. Yeah, I definitely think about all my characters a lot. I can just imagine him in quetzal form reaching back there and pulling out each one and chirping in pain afterwards.

I'm excited to put my idea into effect today.

That's cool how you designed his different knives and outfits. That second outfit is pretty funny. And wow, he looks really menacing in the third shot with no eye irises or eyeballs.

Thanks. I love thinking up these types of details. Yeah that medieval look is funny, but he liked it. He likes drawing attention to himself. I hadn't intended to make him look so scary, I was just lazy with the eyes. But it works. It also could be that he has his eyes closed and blinked during the "photo".
