Trying to catch up on photos
I have uploaded the screen cap of the old profile page to my Flickr so it is not forgotten and so new people will see what it was like and hopefully won't settle.

I'm having weird glitches on Deviantart. I first noticed it when I couldn't look at the summary of my stats page. You go in and there's a load bar but it doesn't fill up. I can't expand comments that have images attached on front pages unless I hit the button to view them all. This doesn't work on any of our three computers. I thought it was because java or something else might not be updated. But on all three computers? I think I recently updated java on mine. The other thing I've noticed is some people and communities have totally lost their icons. Their names are still there but the text isn't centered and floats up because of no icon. They don't even have the default ugly one when you don't have an icon. It's just gone and screws up the view on friends and watchers lists. This makes me wonder if being unable to view the summary page is a DA problem and not on my end. These things may all be related. It's annoying because I want my Quetzalcoatl pic to be my most faved and it's tied with what was the most faved. But I can't tell if that will make it first or if I need to get one more fave on it. So it's down at a bad time when I'm actually checking my stats.

I had something funny happen there too. I can't believe after all these years I'm finally starting to enjoy it there. And I never thought I would actually encourage someone to join. But there was also a time when I thought I would discourage people from joining livejournal. It sucks how things change. No it sucks how things change for the worst. Change for the better, though weird at first, is always good and needed. So I have an artist friend on Flickr who's really good as an animal artist. He makes illustrations for textbooks. I invited him to join and succeeded after giving him a logical argument since he was reluctant. I was happy about this and added him. He has an enormous gallery and started uploading like crazy and get a comment, "Thanks Des for the invite. I'm having so much fun." My inbox had 130+ messages in one day and climbing. GAH!! I have created a monster. Haha. I hated to discourage him after convincing him, but I explained to him how the inbox works and that I want to see his lovely art, just not all at once. I want to comment to almost everything too and I can't when I get overwhelmed that way. He understood and toned it down to about 70 pics instead. Haha, well it's better.

Chris joined Amazon yesterday. It's weird how you add wishlists. I'm still new to Amazon and don't know it well, but wish they had a better friend system. And I can add wishlists from Amazon UK. I'll just have to put them in a book mark. That's annoying. I wish there was Amazon Australia.

We brought in The Cheeper and Raptor. They are sick. My poor hens. Cheeper has a dirty tail and Raptor is throwing up. So I got them on antibiotic water and they are in the house in a cage. I hope I can fix them. Cheeper is in worse shape and doesn't seem to be eating. Raptor eats at least. I may have to tube feed Cheeper though I don't know how I will yet since these are huge birds and all my tubes are for small syringes. I think my tubes are too small and skinny too. That also means I'll need LOTS of baby food. This will be difficult and expensive. And I'm sure after the first time it will be difficult to open her beak. Birds that don't want to open are very hard to feed.

I have a bunch of bird pics to share. I'm very behind on sharing pics here.

Female Bluebird with nesting material

Female bluebird with nest material. I think they are going to nest again this year. Awesome!

Chickadee looks forward

Carolina Chickadee checking out all the nest boxes. They were even going in the bluebird nest and the bluebirds were getting pissed.

In the gourd

Here's one inside the old gourd. They didn't stay but they were like budgies just being a nuance and getting into everything. But they were cute and you guys know I like trouble making birds.

Chickadee checks it out

Checking out the hole.

Tufted Titmouse checks out gourd

A tufted titmouse checks out the hole but was too big to go in.

Chickadee leaves gourd

It was hard to get a pic of them leaving the hole. I was hoping for an in flight pic but they were too fast.

Female Painted bunting

Female painted bunting. I LOVE seeing these cute little green birds. Green birds are so rare in north America. The males are like rainbows.

Common Ground Dove approaches bowl

Common ground dove that's not so common. He's approaching the chicken food bowl. When the chickens are around the doves raid the bowls. This is my view from the couch. I got a lot of backyard birdwatching done, though my view is very limited. Taking pics through the screen is hard and sucks when cool things happen. The pics don't come out well most of the time. The mourning doves are more common than these little guys.

Pair of ground doves in bowl

I like these guys better because they are rare, smaller, cuter and more colorful. I get very happy when I see common ground doves in my yard.

That's it for pics for now. I have way more I will probably post later today.

Art wise I am thrilled to announce I have finished all the pencil work on the 35 expressions. HA! I'm proud. Can you believe I drew Ophidius 35 times making different faces? Now all that's left is to ink them and color them. Both of which are pretty easy. I love the way Ophidius looks from profile. It's the one time he doesn't look ugly. In fact I think his profile pics look so much like Nikola Tesla. I didn't set out to do that. I had draw a few pic and noticed that. "He looks like Tesla!" I said a few times. I thought that was a bad thing at first and hope one one says that I did it on purpose. But I'm not changing him. He's changed a lot from the first time I drew him and with this study I have made of him I think he has finally evolved into what he's supposed to be. He no longer looks as cartoony as when I started with him. He's taken on that more realistic cartoon (I know that's an oxymoron) look that is MY style. But Tesla was a good looking guy, an INTJ, a pigeon lover and one of my heros. I named my budgie after him. Perhaps it was subconscious how that got in there. So I'm glad Ophidius looks kind of dashing from his side view.
EDIT: Actually THIS is a better pic of Tesla from the side. Wow Ophidius does look like him. I will post some pics of Ophidius's profiles soon.

I am doing much better. I can sit in my chair for longer periods. I did a good bit of inking on Malidicus and Quetz yesterday. But I will still take it easy and rest on the couch, though I get antsy and don't want to now. I still need to be down. I'm not fully recovered. Slow recoveries suck and being at this half stage sucks because you feel well enough to get up and go out but once you do you run out of energy fast and pain comes back. Annoying. My mind is way more active than my body.

I keep forgetting to say that a few months ago I switched officially to Firefox. It is my favorite browser and has at least three key features that make it superior to IE. Spell check. That was the main reason I started to use it as because my posts here were getting worse and worse with my dyslexia. Adblock. I was using it only to go on DA and DA is where I used to pick up those viruses from their crappy ads. No more of that and I don't have to be afraid to go there now. And lastly right click to instantly get the code for an image. Much better than doing Right click View Image Source. Of course I need the pic's url copied most of the time I do that. And I forgot to mention this in a whole year. Yes I did snag thagirion.com so now I own that and the .org. Woo hoo!

I was thinking about the right click because I will be mixing both the Raven and the Phoenix moods now when I put them in manually for custom text like now. I still want an animated budgie or quetzal theme. I really want to commission an artist for that. But I don't know where to find one.

Those chickadees are cute. We have a pair nesting in a chickadee house that we can watch from the kitchen table. The chickadees also used the bluebird house last year, but I don't know if anything is using it this year.

The green bird around here is the pine warbler, but I haven't seen one in a while because we don't put out a suet feeder anymore. They only come to the feeder in the winter even though they are here all the time.

Chickadees are very cute. That's great you have a pair nesting.

I thought pine warblers were yellow.
actipton80actipton80 on March 17th, 2013 01:11 am (UTC)
They are greenish-yellow. The green really shows up next to winter goldfinches, which we had a lot of the year we had the pine warbler.

I haven't had that prob with dA. That's really weird. I've always enjoyed dA but most of my artist friends are already on there so I don't think I've ever suggested anyone join. Maybe Sarah though cos she takes nice photos. She joined a while ago.

I hope your hens feel better soon. I didn't know they could throw up.

Nice bird photos. You have such cute little birds over there. I remember when I was in San Antonio and I'd sit under the necter feeder and all the little hummingbirds would come and feed. They make such a surreal buzzing sound up close.

Firefox is awesome. Its faster than IE. My IE has a spellcheck but I tend to keep it turned off cos it doesn't recognise words like Silvolf and Redakai lol! Adblock is awesome. I love using it and I recommend it to everyone. Its great on the video sites I use, including YouTube. I use the right click thing for the image source too.

I updated Java and Acrobat reader on my laptop today. It didn't help. But the icons that weren't showing up worked but now other accounts lost their icons for me. I have no idea what's going on. I don't really know too many artists anywhere else but I thought it would be nice to have another friend I know there. I just hope he'll comment.

Thanks. I'll do my best to fix them up. Yeah birds can throw up.

I love our hummingbirds. But I think most North American birds are boring looking. We have so many earth toned birds. Some are colorful though, but nothing like you'd find in Central America. I wish we had those birds here. So I understand. Birds from other places seem cooler because they are not familiar. I watch someone here that is in France and I love seeing those birds. They are basically the same birds you have. European birds.

I hadn't noticed it being faster but I do love those other features. I downloaded a spell checker for IE but it didn't have the right click thing and just wasn't as good to replace the misspelled word. I like that this one is like MS Word and if you have a funny word like that you can just add it to the dictionary and no more red lines. I had to do that with Thagirion, Sorath and all my other unique names.

That's weird, my version of IE comes with the spellchecker that has right click and add to dictionary, like with MS Word. I guess I have a different version of IE to you. Mine is Windows 8. Internet Explorer 10. I never bother with spellcheck on it but I noticed just now when I right clicked on the word Theater to see why it was spelled wrong. I spell it the American way. In the UK the R and E are the other way around. Theatre. I HATE that spelling. Same with Center/Centre. Stupid French spellings.
Des: WTF?thagirion on March 17th, 2013 12:20 am (UTC)
UGH, yeah that's an awful spelling. Ha, American English is better in most ways. That would be wrong over here. You pronounce the E first so the E needs to be first. DUH! How stupid. Yeah French has some F#$ed up spelling and pronunciation.
I have windows 7 and I think IE 8.

I love all your wild bird pics. Although stuck on the couch, you are making some cool observations. I wonder if you put some straw in that gourd whether anyone would use it. It seems such a long way down from the hole to the bottom. Cool that birds are looking at it! What a wonderful use for gourds!

I'm sorry that two of your chickens are sick. I have never heard of a chook throwing up, either. Do they need worming?
