Sims 3: Five Bad Boys & Cope 2
I uploaded a bunch of characters over the last two days to the exchange. I found out that for some stupid reason "coon" is a bad word. WTF? I was putting in the description that Mr. Poof is a Maine Coon. That's even in the game but on the website it kept replacing it with ****. I refused to have them censor me over something so stupid. It's short for raccoon. I tried c-o-o-n, c0on, c00n and finally got it with "c 0 on". I know I'm going to have this trouble too if I ever make Woody from Toy Story because his name is a bad word too. Come on it's a children's movie! I found out years ago when I tried to do a search for him and all this sims were censored. That will make searching very difficult. I hate sites that go over board with this kind of thing. The only words that should be censored are the major ones like "shit" "Fuck" and a few others I can't think of right now. So sorry to my friends that ended up with tons of updates about me uploading Mr. Poof a bunch of times. I changed my avatar to Davon as well. Now it's more fitting for my name Thagirion. But you know I'll eventually switch back to Owen.

This next chapter is short compared to the other ones. Nothing truly exciting happened. This is when I was at that point I mentioned that starting a new game I'm not quite sure what to do.

Owen coming around the kitchen counter all grumpy.

Owen looking good at the Karaoke machine. He's terrible right now but at least it's his voice. I'm hoping this is a hidden skill and that he's actually leveling when he does this. I haven't seen an improvement though which is disappointing. I HATE hidden skills. I want to see the progress. I want to know what level I'm at. It's the same with the magic skill.

Cope really happy.

I took Owen to a dance club. The place was crappy. It was an abandoned warehouse that they'd added a few lights too. But what happened next took my by surprise and made me very very happy.

Fire! Yes, Owen has fire! What happened was there was a machine behind him making lasers and bubbles and smoke. Typical and cool. I didn't think anything of it. I was watching the other dancer and when I turned the camera back on Owen I saw this. He was lined up perfectly where you couldn't see the machine and it was making fire like that. It looks like it's his fire. I didn't know it did that. So very cool. Once I start him on the singing career and get him doing big concerts (unfortunately the songs for the job aren't in his voice) I'll have to set the stage to have those fire things all the time.

Now it's making lasers like normal. He looks good this way too.

Back at home Thanatos and Ophidius have a water balloon fight. Ophidius gets nailed hard in the stomach.

Cope plants seeds for the first time in the garden room.

Then he takes a break to enjoy the nice surroundings. Notice the seeds on the ground. I added some rare and special seed spawners to this room and the magic room. I also added some insect and butterfly spawners so it would be nice like a butterfly garden. I have yet to see any moths. I did put one in for moths and have been there at night but nothing yet.

Thanatos making funny faces at the dinner table.

I love Cope's room. That dino poster is cool.

Ophidius conjurs up a poisoned apple.

He's all excited about that then decides to transform this lettuce into something else.

But it didn't. He's all sad he's not good at this yet.

He tries one more time and turns it into a toad. Hurray!

Well now he's got to feed the darn thing.

Ophidius is weird in that he likes to go into everyone's rooms and check out the decorations. He likes to stare at them. Here he is again in Solan's room.

Solan's room is beautiful. It's like a museum. I want to show these pics so you can see what the walls were like when I got the house and how I redo everything in a few days of game play for him.

Solan's fish tank. No fish in it yet but hopefully he'll go fishing soon and catch some nice ones.

View from outside his window.

This rivalry between Ophidius and Davon is developing naturally. Ophidius barged into his room and told him he's not fit to lead. How in character. I loved it. They both yelled at each other. This is the last time you'll see Davon's room with the original blue walls.

Ophidius's ear hurts from all the yelling. After this he went to other people's rooms to be annoying or scare them.

Now that he's gone the band gets together to jam. I hate that I had to put Owen on the floor bass because you can't have a singer in the band.

Cope enjoys their playing.

Family dinner. These are always interesting to see what conversations arise. Nothing too interesting this time though.

Ophidius and Davon were both making evil faces about Thanatos for some reason.

This is the new look for Davon's room. I redid the walls, floor and ceiling. He calls Solan into his room and pulls out a wand.

Solan is terrified. He hadn't expected this.

Thagirion must be displeased. "No master have mercy!"

Davon blasts him...with a good luck charm.

"Oh wow. That wasn't so bad." You can never know around a demon. Solan thought he'd done something wrong.

After going out shopping Ophidius stupidly ate his own poisoned apple and fell over asleep on the sidewalk.

The boys are jamming again. Owen looks over all cocky at Solan. He's keeping an eye on the others. He doesn't want to be upstaged. I love how I colored that bass white and gold for him.

Solan looking sweet on drums.

And Davon strikes a confident pose.

I leave you with Thanatos getting excited over a stupid table. I bought this extra table because there wasn't enough room on this floor for all of them to eat. Thanatos ran over to look at the New Item. Sigh.

Oh btw, just some basic advice for those of you playing. Don't forget to save often and even save alternate versions of your game using the Save As function. You can always delete the older ones if you end up with too many files. If something goes wrong in your game you'll have an old saved file as back up. Sucks to start over again after losing a lot of progress but better than losing it all. I need to remember to save more since there's no auto save. I try to save after major events but I have been kind of bad about it. A good habit to get into that could save your game in the future.

Some great expressions here! Ophidius is insane right? Cos I gave Zane the insane trait and he likes to stare at random objects too. Omg and he wears all the wrong clothes at the wrong times. Its hilarious! He was running around pretending to be a dog as well.
I really love how you've decorating the house. It fits all of them very well. The band looks good too, despite the fact you can't have a singer.
I'll be sure to save my game lots then ^^

Yeah, I try to capture neat expressions when I see them. Yes he has the insane trait. That and inappropriate makes them wear the wrong clothes because they wear what they feel like. Thanks. I wanted it to look nice and reflect their personalities. I'll post Solan's finished room next. I really hate that you can't have a singer. But despite that I am enjoying the band.
Yeah, I just made a new Save As file today.

I LOVE Ophidius passed out on the ground from eating his own arcane creations. hehe "Hmm, I need to be sure these work..."

The last pic with Thanatos is funny. I can just hear him. "YES! At last! With this table, I shall wipe out nations!!!"

Cope is so happy despite living in a house with mostly mortal enemies. ;)

Hehe, I wish I had filmed that. It was so funny how he ate then then got dizzy and finally fell over out in public. I imagined him going, "I'm sure hungry. Hey I have an apple. " Chomp. "eew."

It's funny how they get excited over the silliest things. Haha, yeah.

Yep, he's the odd ball there.

Oh, yeah, the "save as" is really important. The best way to avoid Error 16 or Error 12 is to just do save as periodically so your game file doesn't get corrupted. I'm in the habit of saving every sim day and renaming it, usually my convention is something like "Familynamew1d1" for week 1 day 1 to get an idea of where in the game it is. My legacy was on week 52 at the end, and the file was huge. I had so many saves, most of which were just deleted as I no longer needed them.

I like how your guys look jamming on their instruments. And that's hilarious that he ate his own poisoned apple. Ooops.

I've gotten better at saving but need to save more than I do. I get error 16 a lot but close it and then save again and it saves fine. I think it just means it failed to save that time. But that's a great idea about how to organize the save files. I'll have to do something like that.

Thanks. I love it when they play as a band. Do you know if the karaoke is a hidden skill? Like the snake basket do they get better the more they do it? Yeah, I didn't know about it and I got a message he'd eaten it. I clicked it and caught him just before he fell.

Error 16 can usually be averted with a save as, but Error 13 and Error 12 that doesn't work as much on. Usually it means you're screwed and have to go out and restart from your last save.

Karaoke is definitely a hidden skill. I saw it in the list when I used the master controller mod. It just takes a while to build. One of my sims used to mess around on it a lot at a bar I placed it in in Twinbrook and he eventually got better at it.

Tell me more about this master control mod. Sounds like something I'd definitely like to have. I hate hidden skills. Are these mods difficult to install?
Cheezey: Bushy Simcheezey on January 7th, 2013 03:14 pm (UTC)
Master Controller is one of the Nraas mods. It adds another button to just about everything that says "Nraas" and then you select "master controller" from it and it brings up another menu with tons of options. From there you can explore things you would like to change. Like you can click on a sim and go into the "intermediate" sub menu and opt to change his or her relationships with other sims or add family ties. Skills are under the advanced tab and it opens up a menu of all the skills, including hidden ones, and allows you to select one and change the level. You can access careers under one of the tabs, too. It's very handy and I think once you became familiar with it (it has a lot of options on it) you would like it. It'd also allow you to click on a sim no matter who you are playing and change them in CAS if you want (also under advanced) if they're in an ugly outfit.

As for installing it, once you have a mods folder, all that's involved is putting the file in the "packages" subfolder of the mods folder. Same with removing it. It's very easy.

So I just make another folder under Electronic Arts > The Sims 3? That does sound easy. I like that you can control so much even to change an NPC's clothes. That would be great.
Cheezey: Bushy Simcheezey on January 7th, 2013 04:36 pm (UTC)
Not quite, there is a little more in the mods folder than that. What you need is a folder called "Mods" in the /Electronic Arts/The Sims 3/ folder. In the "Mods" folder there should be two subfolders. One called "Overrides" and one called "Packages" and a file called "Resource.cfg" which I can email to you if you want. You then download the mod from the Nraas site on this page: http://nraas.wikispaces.com/MasterController+Phase+Nine it is a zip file that you open. When you open the zip file, stick it in the "Packages" subfolder. Also grab the one on this page http://nraas.wikispaces.com/MasterController+Cheats+Phase+Nine if you want even more options with it, it is an optional module for it. You put that file in the packages folder also.

Then just boot up your game like normal and you should get a popup when you get to the main screen telling you the mods are installed. Click the check and play like normal, and the mod should be in when you go into your game and you should have the extra options when you click on sims or lots or objects.

Oh and don't worry about the overrides folder, I have it and it is empty, but it is just there from when I went to follow the instructions on how to install mods, I am guessing it's there for other types of mods people may use. I just leave it there in case.

Awesome. That all sounds great. Yes please send me that Resource.cfg file. I'm definitely looking forward to this and finally being able to see those hidden skills. Thanks so much for your help.
Cheezey: Flirty Tashicheezey on January 7th, 2013 05:15 pm (UTC)
I went ahead and emailed it to you a little while ago, actually. Figured I might as well just send it so you could get started if you wanted. Let me know if it doesn't go through.

Thanks. I did get it. I'll download those now and let you know how it goes.
