Nepenthes and lights
Yesterday I started printing cards, but I only was able to make one and then the ink ran out. I've started my Christmas shopping. I have two people done. Well three actually. I love amazon lists now because I can buy exactly what someone wants and not have to go to a store. They even ship it for me so I don't have to have it shipped to my house first. The only thing I don't like is that you don't have the option to pick which seller. If you do that then you have to type in the address and it doesn't come out of their wishlist which sucks. They should keep it logged that you're still getting a gift for So and So. There's one other thing I don't like but it's just Amazon over all. There's no Amazon for Australia and most things don't ship to Australia. I have three friends there so that sucks about that.

So yes having international friends I need to keep regions and formats in mind. Here is a map of video game and DVD formats. HERE. I wonder why France is the weird one and not the same as the rest of Europe? But there's not only format to worry about but regions which there are much more of than the three formats. Regions 1-6. Now I'm confused. What's the difference between a region and a format? I know a region is based on location while a format is how the disk is produced but I'm confused still what if regions and formats don't match up for your country? Like if the US and Canada are Region 1 and Latin America is Region 4, how does that affect South American that's cut in half with NTSC and PAL. Peru and Brazil are region 4, but will a DVD from Peru not work in Brazil despite that? I'm confused. There shouldn't be any of this stuff. DVDs and Games should work anywhere in the world on one format.
Anyway, the gifts and things I still have to get locally might take me a while because I need Chris to have a day off to help me get all that taken care of. I inked the drawing of Caroline and got about 75% done with it. I can tell I've lost my steam for art. I don't have that burning desire to do it though I'm still pushing myself to try to meet my goal.

I have some pretty photos to share.

Lovely unknown pitcher

This is an adorable pitcher. I'm in love with this tiny pitcher. I think it's only like 2 inches tall. I don't know what it is. It's one I got in a trade but when I saw the pic of the dead one it came with I wanted it and knew it would be cool. I've named it Cool Unknown Nep until someone can ID it for me.

Cool unknown nep

It has two sugar ants stuck to it. Kind of a waste they didn't even make it inside the trap.

N. red leopard

Don't let the pic fool you. This is another tiny pitcher also about 2 inches. It's a hybrid called Red Leopard. I think it's a cross between maxima and ventricosa.

N. red leopard different view

Same pitcher from a slightly different angle.

Back of red leopard and ventrata

Same pitcher from behind and a ventrata pitcher. Looks like they are talking.

Halloween Solar Stakes 1

These are solar stakes from Halloween. I put them away in my closet but they still had charge from being outside and lit up my closet all neat. I kept trying to get good pics but my camera makes blurry pics in the dark.

Halloween Solar Stakes 2

Seen from underneath

Halloween Solar Stakes 3

This one's slightly better. You can sort of see what's going on.

Halloween Solar Stakes 4

Lastly I took these with the door open so it was able to focus though it doesn't look as cool with intense light.
I'm basically done with Christmas decorating now. I just need a few extension chords and to do the outside stuff, which I don't have much of. I want to get more Solar Stakes for Christmas. I have two that are candy cane color, but I'm disappointed the light is white. It should have been red or green. Speaking of disappointed...I still need to get a nativity set. I had been watching a good one that ended this morning. But I got carried away feeding my birds and thinking of other things I forgot and missed the end of the auction. It was an awesome ceramic set that sold for just over $8. What a steal and I missed it. I went through and looked at others and the only comparable ones are around $25 and I can't afford much this year so that sucks.

I didn't play Sims today. I wasn't in the mood. But I did play a little more of Assassin's Creed and got further in it. I'm at the point I don't feel like doing too many more of the side missions and want to concentrate on beating the main story.

Oh and today was an anniversary but it hasn't really felt like it. Chris has been gone all day. I'm glad we're getting a lot of business but it makes it hard.

Oh I did find one funny thing. You guys know I put out a nice display this year for Halloween. I still have the pumpkins out front. I forgot to take them down and don't know where to put them really. Well, I noticed the neighbor across the street has pumpkins on his patio now too. This was the jerk that I got in a fight with because he was putting Chris down about driving a Japanese truck. In the five years we have been here he has NEVER decorated for Halloween. I don't think the liked that our yard looked so nice. What's funny is that I didn't do it to impress the neighbors. I do it for me and Chris because we like having nice things out for the holidays. Tomorrow if I have the energy I need to take the pumpkins down. I wonder what he'll do, if he'll do the same thing? It's kind of funny.

Hehe I see a cockatiel on my name now!!

But yes, Amazon is useful. Here in the UK we are region 2 for DVDs. But my players can play all regions. Most players are made for multi-region but they are locked to one. People who don't know any better think that they can't be unlocked but actually most of them can. I've unlocked mine. Its easy to find the code on the internet. But games consoles are near impossible to unlock. The 3DS is region locked. So is the X-Box and PS3.

The nepenthes is sweet. I love little ones like that.
I LOVE the colours of those stakes!

Ergh jerks. That stupid guy from down the street said something to me the other day but I couldn't hear cos I had my iPod on. He's been told by the police not to talk to me. I wish he'd let this drop. He's beyond petty and deserves everything he gets.

Hehe, yeah it's so cute. The cockatiel appears on paid icons.

I'm glad DVD's can be modded but sucks that consoles can't. Are PC games by region? I hope not.

Thanks, they're really adorable little nepenthes.
I thought you might like them.

I hate that guy. Glad he has a miserable life.

I'm not sure if PC games are regional.

After Thanksgiving, mom cut our pumpkin in half and filled it with bird seed for the turkeys and squirrels.

Those lights in your closet are cool. They make neat patterns.

Our Fontanini Nativity is older than I am, or at least I think it is. I think we might have another put away somewhere. Fontanini is expensive, so I think mom collected over the years to get the full set. The figures are resin so they don't break.

That's cool. I wish I had turkeys in my yard. I lived in one house that had cranes. They don't come here too often. Mostly they fly over.

That was so amusing with the lights. They don't do that anymore since they're in the dark all day now.

Since I moved away from my mother I have to replace everything I had growing up myself. This is one of those things I need to get one again. That's cool you've had that in your family so long. I used to have a ceramic set and yeah it was a bit scary since they were delicate.

I like your little pitchers -- they are adorable, but I love how you took pictures of your lights after they were in the closet. This is the kind of things I like to do! Different and unusual, not ones like everyone else takes. The last two are fabulous!

Thanks. I thought you might like those pitcher. I'm glad you like the lights. It was amusing, but now they don't do that since they don't get light anymore.

Those are cute little pitchers.

I love those pics of your solar lights in your cupboard. I like the first one th best :)

That sucks about having regoins for DVDs. I think they should be the same the world over, too.

That's funny about the neighbour guy. He is a follower, not a leader.

Thanks. I really like them especially the green one.
I loved how funny and neat the lights made the walls look.
Yeah, it would be best if they were all the same so we could all use them with no problems.
Yeah, that's true.

You take great pictures. I can really see the detail in those little nepenthes. Too bad one dribbled its meal on its chin. It happens to the best of us :D
