Sims 3 Cheat Codes and Tips
This is a reference for myself since I forget the codes.

Open Cheat codes
Press Shit-Contrl-C then enter testingcheatsenabled true

Work clothes

unlockoutfits on

Motherlode - 50,000
kaching - 1,000

Placing families

1) Start a new game and pick your town. When it loads, immediately go into edit town using the "..." button on the bottom left. It may ask if you want to disable the tutorial, tell it yes unless you want to sit through it again. That'll let you go into edit town.

2) Press shift-control-c to bring up the cheats menu, and type in "testingcheatsenabled true" and hit enter.

3) Type in "freerealestate" and hit enter.

4) Select your family you want to move in from the bin, and then pick whatever house you want them in. It should let them move in for free and keep their starting funds.

5) When you're done moving everyone in, hit the "return to game" at top, I'd also recommend saving at that point. This will bring you back to the menu. If you didn't move in the family you want as your active household, now you can move them in like normal. If you want to have them get a free house, you need to move them in during the step above.

If you already did that and want to select them, pick the "choose household" option and pick the family, and it should let you start the game with them.

6) Also, before you start, you might want to go into options at this point and pick the aging/free will/story progression settings you want if you don't want the default. Seasons default at 7 days and start in the summer. If you plan on taking videos, go into options and make sure capture sound is enabled, I think the default is sound off.

A few more handy codes
Another convenient money cheat you can use if you have testing cheats enabled, using Cope as an example here if you want to start him with 100 grand, is, "familyfunds Cope 100000". That lets you set a specific amount so you don't have to keep doing kaching or motherlode.

"moveobjects on" and "moveobjects off" is also good in building or buy mode, for when things don't want to fit in places they should.

If you have sims getting stuck, "resetsim Jonathan Cope" (assuming Cope is the stuck sim) will put him back to his default position on his home lot. Just type in the name exactly as it appears on the stuck sim.

If there is lag in your town and you suspect there are stuck sims, but you don't know where, you can also open the cheat panel and type "resetsim *" and that will reset the entire town and hopefully fix the problem.

Re: A few more handy codes
Oh that sounds awesome, especially if I want to buy an object for the home just once and don't need so much money. These are great and I'll add them to my list. Thanks.
