Nepenthes and working
I'm having a good day today. I brought in all the nepenthes yesterday because the nights have been in the 40's. And I'm very happy to announce that I have my second N. hamata. It's a teeny tiny thing that doesn't look like anything either. I got it in the mail yesterday.

AW 3 & 2 N. hamata

Here it is next to my first one. It's as tiny as the first one was when it was new. I got it from the same guy and got an even better deal on it than the first time. I need to show him this pic. My older one is not pitchering but starting to get some new ones. Now that I have this one I can't believe how much my first one has grown. And I got that one on a 7th too so they both have the same "birthday" kind of like my anniversaries are on a 4th and easy to remember. These are March and Nov 7. They are two different clones but unfortunately both are males. I'd love to get a female but they are rare and expensive and no one will part with them. The reason these are so sought after is because they turn into These awesome toothed monsters when full grown.

I think I have finished the pencil work for the drawing of Solan on the helicopter. I can start inking that hopefully tomorrow. I'm only two drawings behind where I should be in my quota for the year and I'm very optimistic that I can catch up and meet that before the end of the month. So the next fully colored drawings will probably be that one and the Christmas card. I've also decided to redesign my sig that's on all my artwork. It's the Flare Enterprise logo. I did one for Thanatos, now Flare needs it. Also apart from the template I have in Illustrator I can not draw that thing by hand and make it look the way it did the first time. No matter how I try. So I have decided to remake it in a way that I can make it looks pretty similar every time.
I can't believe the Looten pic was drawn in June 2011. I thought I had drawn it this year but it's over a year and a half. I'm very happy with how much art I have cranked out this year inspite of my disability. In fact I've done more and better now that I have this disorder hehe. So if I can keep up this steady pace my next personal goal is to have a much shorter turn around time on completed works. Not let stuff lie around over a year then finish it. But I do have a lot of older work I need to catch up on. I really shouldn't draw anything new until I catch up but that won't happen.

I have finished reading my own story finally. I finished today so I feel very accomplished about that. I hope I don't have to read it again. I think this is my third read through. If I left anything out it's perhaps a few descriptions but I hope to make up for that with the artwork that will go with it. So now I need to finish the art for it and send it off to some of my closest friends. I don't think it's good as the next book after it though but the way it plays out I just don't see how to make it any better. I think it just is what it is.
AND I really need to get back to writing The Sun and The Water. At least I'm working on the artwork for that.

Oh, I noticed today how well Mum's nepenthes is doing. It has little pitchers and everything! It's only a small one but it's still thriving.
I look forward to seeing the pic. It's amazing how time flies though. Similar has happened to me too.

Oh that's great hers is doing well. It will get bigger in time.
Yeah, it didn't seem like that long ago that I got the dvds and made that. At least it's finally done. I need to work on not being so bad about that.

You're right, the female is an awesome plant! What a pity you can't get them. The male you got in March has grown. I guess you really can appreciate that after getting a new one. The guy may very well be interested in how much it has grown. Funny how you are already preparing for spring and it isn't even past the Equinox yet!

Two drawings behind your quota. You are doing very well! You may just make it by the end of the year, especially as it is more of an indoor time for you at the moment.

And hooray, you have finished reading through your book! That was a long read! Yeah, illustrations can take the place of description, which can take away from the action in the plot.

There's a rumor going around that those that have females hold onto them when they breed only sell the males so they can continue to make money and hold onto the market and keep the prices high. I don't know if that's true but from what I've seen I wonder if it's true. After all the decades of nepenthes there should be more females even though the seedling ratio is 30-70. If I ever get a female and they become mature I will only keep enough to have some breeding pairs then sell off the rest a reasonable prices to make them more available to everyone. This species is to rare to hord it.
Haha, yeah I know, I'm always thinking of the future and making plans on all levels. I'm just a future thinker it's part of my INTJ nature.

Yep if I can make two drawings this month that will be 11 total then I can make my 12th one for December and meet my goal. I'm hoping I can surpass it actually. I do miss being outside but I'm glad I don't have too many plants out there distracting me now.

I'm a slow reader so yeah that took me a very long time. Oh, I don't think they take away from the action but add to it. And my stories are definitely about action. The action scenes are my favorite parts to draw, like the Jet Shoe Kick.

Hmmm...well, let's hope that rumour is not true. I hope you get one one day, and good on your for wanting to share them with the world.

Yeah, you may very well exceed your quota. That would be cool. (Bt don't push yourself and injur yourself or drain your crerative batteries. It is just lookig good right now.

Oh, I meant written description can take away from the plot (action). Pics just add to it.

It's not that I want to share but think they should be readily available at a reasonable price. With tissue culture there's no reason why there shouldn't be a lot more of these out there especially the females. Somethings shouldn't be so over priced.

I'll try to not over do it. I'm usually good about knowing when to stop...usually.

Ah that makes sense. I agree. Some authors spend way too much time describing something down to the molecule. That gets boring.

Wow, that is tiny. Good luck growing them. It's interesting to see the side by side comparison.

Good luck with your logo redesign, too.

Yeah, it sucks they're so small when they come out of tissue culture. Thanks. But my other one was this tiny to when I first got it. Can't wait for them to get big.

Thanks. I've got it all made up. Now I just have to ink it.
