Ripped off by Disney
This is really funny and a first for me. I'm only slightly annoyed by this and slightly flattered. But I do want it taken care of. You guys remember that last year in Feb Chris and I went to Orlando's World Quest Resort for Valentines and anniversary. I took a bunch of pics and put them up on Flickr. Not long after that I found out World Quest had a Flickr account when they complimented one of my pics. How nice. I didn't mind them leaving their facebook link in my comments though I would have rathered they'd left thier website. Well today I get a comment on youtube from someone that's going to go there for thier honeymoon. How nice. I highly recommended them and then asked if they wanted a link to my flickr so they could see my pics in detail. They did so I passed along my set of pics from that trip. I realized I hadn't added a map so I adde it to all of them. Came across the comment from World Quest resort and then found out they stole one of my pics, resaved it in photoshop to change the date and used it as advertisement. I'm gald they liked my pic so much of the plates I took but it's still copyright to me. I can prove I took the pic first because my photo was put up in Feb 4 months before they put it up in June. I left them a note asking for credit and a link HERE. I also added them to my watch since clearly I now need to keep an eye on them as they may steal my other photos. You know I hate the idea that I have to go through and watermark my photos like I do my artwork. That would just blow. Here is my original time stamped with Exif data for Feb 2011. It's the weekend so I'll give them until Tuesday to respond. If they don't I'll either call them or email them and failing that well, I'll report them to yahoo. I already looked into where to write for that. This doesn't change my view of the hotel, just the people that run the Flickr. I'm sure the hotel managers would not be happy if I tell them about this and that a former possibly returning guest is not happy to be infringe on.

Well the day's been good. I'm very pleased with something else I found today. Remember how I mentioned that I wanted a Nepenthes truncata from Orchid Web and they had rediculous shipping which was $35. The plant itself was over priced at $50 but because it was rare I was willing to pay for it. The Lowland version is hard to come by in the states. Well I was on Ebay and saw an auction for one. I decided to check their website and they had a few for sale WAY cheaper for the same size. Small seed sprouted plants. Awesome! Not only that they had a Nepenthes Reindwartia red which I also wanted. So I ordered two truncatas, one reindwartiana and because my order was over $20 will be getting a free venus flytrap of their choice. Shipping was $13 so total I'm getting four plants for $50. Four plants for the price of the one not counting shipping I would have gotten from Orchid Web. HA! I'm glad it didn't work out with them now. This is awesome. I can't wait to get my order.

So today was a day off. We had a great time. We went to a park but it was too cold to really walk all the trails. I got a Mocha from Starbucks and then we came home. It's so cold. We'll probably watch some videos the rest of the evening.

That sucks about Flikr and Orlando - though, yes, good on you for putting up a photo that they liked. This seems to happen to you a lot. I remember there was one of your Nepenthes up somewhere - an Ebay shop for a Nepenthes company? Anyways, I hope that they credit you or take it down. I can see you standing there with your arms folded and tapping your foot :)

That is a good deal on the Nepenthes etc - glad you waited until you saw a good price!

Glad you had a good day, too. Going out to parks is nice. Sorry it's so cold, though. Brrr. Enjoy your videos!

Yeah it was some of my gourd photos on Ebay. The guy was nice and responded quickly and took them down right away. That's rare. We'll see how this goes.

Yeah, it's not that I waited. I was just lucky to stumble across that site. It worked out for the best it seems.

It was a nice day. We watched Star Trek and Life of Birds.

Wow. I guess their employees are lazy, googling for pictures other people took rather than taking their own. At least it shows your photography skills are good, though!

Hehe, yeah. They have more access to their own cupboards than I do. I told Chris last night it's easier to right click than to walk to the room and take a photo. Yeah, at least they liked it.
