Initial thoughts on SR3
I've started playing Saints Row 3, but before I get to that a little more on Skyrim. I don't think I mentioned this but I redid Owen again. Luckily I was able to use an Imperial like I wanted. I think he turned out good for what I was limited to. I know one thing that's wrong now too. All the male characters look old. That's why he's just not right. They have too many wrinkles and veins on their arms. Owen looks very young and smooth. He's like me in that he appears 10-12 years younger than he really is. He's 33 if anyone's curious. Cope is 34. And they didn't have the right hair. The smoothest hair was actually a long one with a low pony tail. He looks great from the front but from the back he does not look like himself. But it's not so bad. I'm getting a kick out of playing him this way because from the back I forget it's him and he looks like a metal singer. So that's cool. I'm also having a real hard time finding the right robes for him if there even are any. In the last game there were white robes but only two of them. I hope there are some even if it's a unique item. Seems like white is a hard color to come by in this game. I'd like a white robe for him and I'd like a white horse. So far all the horses are dark.

Other than that it's pretty fun, though I haven't played much. It's Chris game. He got first dibs and he's playing during all his free time. So I've only started the game and am still just level 1. I love that Chris is playing as Thagirion. Here are some screen caps I made.

Pretty cool. I used an Argonian to make him. They are a race of reptile people.

Sorry this one's blury. It was hard to get it because he kept moving. This is at the start of the game and the closest they ever show your guy so it's the best time to get pics. That's the ugly outfit you start with since you start as a prisoner. You find clothes and armor later on so ignore that he's dressed ugly. I'm really impressed with how he turned out. He's pretty good and I find it funny he's more accurate than Owen. From far away in normal game play he looks really neat. I also made Sorath and he turned out pretty decent too. Of course I also had to use an Argonian for that and mostly made him red. So I'm proud they turned out so well. I'll be playing the game when Chris isn't around, but still not much because I got SR3 now.

Ok so we went the day before yesterday at 8:30 to get our tickets. I knew it wouldn't be the mad house it was for Skyrim and it was warm so I actually went in the store with Chris. I knew there would be lots of nerds and interesting conversation. I was right. We all talked about Skyrim and what we were doing in the game and one guy was nice and a fellow introvert. He expressed his hate for online gaming and we all ranted about how stupid it was. Loved that. Nothing like sharing your hate with others to bring you closer hehe. Basically we only plug in our cables to get our achievments up. We got an even better spot in line this time. This time we got 7. We returned just before midnight and had missed the raffle. Oh well I didn't want anything anyway. We got in real fast and got the game. I was too tired to play so I just went to bed when we got home.

But I started yesterday and I like it for the most part. Biggest complaint is that if you want to download characters or upload them you need an xbox gold account. That really bugs me and shows that Volition is in cahoots with Microsoft. If I paid for the full version of the game I shouldn't be expected to also have an Xbox membership to get other characters. I can't view the gallery and do a few other things because of this either. Those jerks. Luckily I wrote down all the sliders for the character I made on Chris's Initiation Station which I still can't get for the same reasons. I'll show them. I'll just make characters and upload the sliders to youtube so all of us with the game and silver membership can still share.

There were very few new outfits and hair so that was disapointing too. They did take stuff away from 2 and I wish they hadn't. I loved some of the hair styles in that. But I was still able to make Cope and he looks pretty cool. Now about game play itself.

I have it set to normal and it's much harder than the first game. I went into a stronghold in the airport and tried to take over and the enemies would not stop coming. I might not have been reaching the objective but I wasn't sure what to do. It was a mad house and you coudln't get a a moment's peace to think. I'm amazed I didn't die but it was intense. Taking out assasination targets and robbing cars is also way harder and I don't like that. The targets aren't just in a certain area like before. You have to do something to draw them out which draws attention and usually gets the cops out too. Then your fighting cops and gangsters and they don't stop coming. Shaking the cops is very hard. And hiding doesn't get rid of your last wanted level for a long time. It's crazy. When you steal a car and deliver it the cops know right away and chase you the whole time. Before once you delivered the car your wanted level instantly dropped which was funny and nice. But not this time so even after you drop off the car you're still running and that sucks. And at the gun store not all the guns available are displayed which is odd. Before you could see them but of course not buy them if you didn't have the money which you had to build up.

I do love that you get a lap top to do an air strike. This is perfect for Cope since he carries around his little laptop. What it is is you can call down missles on your targets. That's just cool. There are special fancy moves you can do if you hit buttons at the right time. There's new animation for climbing chain link fences which is cool and realistic. And one thing I had forgotten I loved so much about the first game is how competent and confident your character is. The personality in the game fits Owen way better actually. Some times I'm tempted to play as Owen. But the game really is geared towards Cope as far as stuff to use. There are electric grenades which are something Cope has. There's also a flying motorcycle somewhere. I can't wait to find that. And the first level was awesome and pefect for Cope. You fall out of an airplane and you're fighting in the air. Basically flying. It's so cool. Makes me think of Cope's jet shoes and he even mentioned he's not afraid of hights. I love it. So there's good and bad but I think I can over look the bad as there's more good. Well not over look it as I'll always gripe about what I can't do each time the game reminds me. But the important thing is more good than bad.

So playing two huge games right now. You guys might not see much of me around. This is bad for my art too. I don't know when I'll be able to work on it. Oh well.

Sounds like you're having fun with your games! I totally agree about online gaming. I loved EverQuest back in the day, but my least favorite part was the online component. While I did meet some nice people there, I spent a lot of time frustrated because there was so much you needed other people for. I was anon almost all of the time at higher levels because I was tired of people I didn't know spamming me to beg for gear, money, or to go and resurrect them. (I played a cleric.) The "I don't want to be around people" feeling is the main reason I never tried World of Warcraft, even though several friends told me it was great and how much I'd like it.

That's cool about the laptop in the game for Cope. Sounds like a fun feature!

Yes, I'm taking a break now. Been playing a lot. Yeah, I have no interest in world of warcraft because of that. Now that Skyrim is out it's perfect since it's a single player fantasy game. I can see how that would drive you nuts. Games should be alone time for us to recharge.

Yes, it looks so cool. I'll have to get a screen cap of it.

I LOVE nerding out with people. And when you and a complete stranger share the same strong views, it's really awesome.
Thagirion looks great there!

Yes that was very nice about the conversation we had.
Thanks. I'm very proud of how I made him.

I really like that second pic of Thagirion.

You really shouldn't have to have an xbox account. That sucks.

Have fun playing you game(s)!

Thanks. He turned out really nice.

Yeah, Chris told me it's not that way on Playstation 3.

I definitely will have fun. And I'll share some of the funny things that might happen.
