Pumpkins are growing
I'm very happy that someone wrote me and showed me they used my budgie pattern and made a pumpkin out of it.

Thier name is Hoskikoneko and that links to their Flickr. I noticed that views really went up on my drawing for Halloween so I'm sure other people have used this pattern too. Too bad my new one is too new to have been used this year. I do plan to carve it eventually on my other pumpkin. I want to make a fully cut out version too since skin scraping is very hard and most people don't know how to do it.

My pumpkins are hanging in there. The one in the main patch is slowly growing. This is the first one I found and it's starting to turn orange.

Orange Bulldog growing

This is an older pic and I have to take pics of the updated ones. And I was thrilled that I found a third one of the same kind. I know what these are now too. These are the orange bulldog pumpkins. I ordered the seeds from the University of Georgia. I tried these last year and all of them died. But this year they came up and seem to like the side yard better. I don't know why. They are bred to be disease resistant for the south so yeah then these seem to work for down here. Though mine aren't full size. They're growing stunted. So that's the next thing to figure out what's wrong. I probably need more fertilizer.

I've been going on jobs with Chris. I've gotten some writing done for The Sun and The Water. I'm having a hard time bringing together all the scenes. At least I have an ending to works towards. That's always the best and how I like to work. When there's a goal to reach it's not so bad. When there is no ending and you dont know where you're going that's much harder to write.

I also need to get back to my art. I need to finish Sorath and Thagirion then focus on the Christmas part one because that will be this year's Christmas card.

That budgie pumpkin looks really cool! I like how it turned out.

Sorry to hear your pumpkins are growing in stunted. These plants make growing them such an adventure, don't they? Hopefully fertilizer will help with the size.

Yeah I'm glad it worked out so well for them.

Yes it has been an adventure. Stunted pumpkins but you know what After all the failures I'm thankful to have any pumpkins at all.

That's cool that your pattern got used for a pumpkin, really nice.
The lil yellow one looks cute there so far. :D

If it would be allowed I could send you some seeds of the especial Styrian oilseed pumpkin Cucurbita pepo var. styriaca ( http://www.uni-graz.at/~katzer/engl/Cucu_pep.html ) but I'm afraid that the customs will keep the package then because of the seeds in it.
That pumpkin is only cultivated in a few parts of Austria and nowhere else they are really special. They make big and pretty orange and round fruits with dark green stripes. Their seeds are also very very tasty when toasted.
They are very insensitive as long as their ground they are on is very eutrophic.

I was so happy she used it. It did turn out cute.
Yeah they start with a pretty yellow then turn pinkish orange.

Oh that's a lovely pumpkin. I'll read the details soon. Please send me some seeds. It's allowed. I've gotten seeds as far away as Indonesia and Australia. Those are so round they're like a pie pumpkin. But gosh I don't know if it would grow here since pumpkins do terrible. But I'm willing to try.

I guess if I just send a few it might work. I will try to get some for you it's not the best time for getting seeds here now in winter but I will keep my eyes open ;)
They like it a bit colder and wet to fit to our climate here but like I said if the soil is a good one then they normally grow everywhere even in pots.

That's awesome they used your design.
I've just finished my Christmas card image and I'm buying mine tonight since I got an offer on them and it will save me money.

Yeah, I'm very happy people like it enough to use.
I'm amazed how you can crank out the art. I wish I could do that. Must be great to be ahead of schedule.

That's wonderful that someone liked your budgie and made a pumpkin carved lantern out of it.

Congratulations on your pumpkin or pumpkins. That one is looking very good there. It will be nice if it turns orange alter in the season (which must be very short, now - how many weeks?).

That's great that you have been getting some writing done.

I have been thinking about Christmas cards. I haven't drawn anything, so most likely will be buying something. I don't know what yet.

I was thrilled when I got the PM. It was so nice to see. I don't know how many weeks are left. I just know things start getting cold aroud late Nov and Dec.

Yep, it's slowly coming along. I really feel the urge to work on art and writing today so hopefully I can.

Yeah, since I'm so slow with art I really need to start the Christmas cards early.
