Tropico 4
I downloaded the demo for Tropico 4 yesterday. I started playing and really like it. I've watched Chris play the first one on PC many times but could never get into it enough to play on my own computer. I just can't stand PC games and that one seemed to have something missing as cool as it was. Part 2 had a pirate theme but they didn't make it well so we gave up on the series after that. I didn't know there was a 3. But since this one is for xbox it caught my attention and I figured after all these years they've had to smooth out the bugs.

Well I like it a lot and now want the full game. I played the four tutorials and started my own game. The catch with the demo is you can't save so you have to play your whole campain in one sitting. I would pause the game and leave the room if I needed a break. But when I finally was getting ready to go to bed it was so sad to destroy my island that I was doing so well on. And not all the options are available. For example, almost all the tourist stuff you can build is locked. That really makes me want to play the full game. So many neat buildings and statues. Just like in the first game you can start the game and pick real dictators to play as or make your own. But this time you can actually customize your dictator and dress him up. I made mine a pirate and named him Black Beard. And it's like Sims in that you can select your avatar and see him running around the island. You can go to certain buildings like restaurants and churches and their service and quality goes up and they gain fame for a time. I guess it's like, "Eat at the restaurant the President visited."

There are more countries to interact with, not just the US and Russia like it was in the first game. The art of the people that talk to you is really funny too and so are the news broadcasts. There are more natural disasters too. In the first game you would just get hurricanes. Now it's hurricanes, tidal waves, tornadoes and volcanoes. Luckily the island I started with didn't have a volcano. I hope you can turn off the disasters like you can in the first game. I'd rather not deal with them starting off. Later on yes when I want more challenge. My island didn't have any ruins like there were in the tutorial. It's like the demo doesn't want you to do anything for tourists since that would probably make too much money for a free version. I don't have the game but it's funny that I already want the downloads. One is a pack with more suits for your dictator and three new islands. One of them is Isla Nublar which is the island from Jurassic Park. Yeah, I want that. Too bad there won't be dinosaurs or even buildings like the compound. That would have been neat. They could have made them look similar but called them something else. That would have been awesome. Here's a trailer for it. Ignore the ads at the beginning.

I used to have a game a bit like that but it was all about making theme parks.

Oh that might have been one of the tycoon games. There was a rollercoaster tycoon. I remember seeing those.

That sounds like an interesting game. Reminds me of the Sim City and Zoo Tycoon games I tinkered with many years ago.

I always saw the boxes for those in stores but never played them. It is a fun game.
