Halloween eve
I've had a very good day today. Chris has been playing the new Batman game he rented and I've enjoyed watching him. I can tell I like this much better than the first game. I still have to play the first game. I'm so happy with how the house looks right now. I told Chris I don't think I've been this proud since we moved in.

So yesterday was his birthday and he took me to the pumpkin patch and bought me another giant pumpkin for the entrance. I put the old one in the front yard and you'll see that in a little. His parents came over in the evening and took us out to eat. We talked about our trip to the Bahamas coming up. I was very surprised but thrilled that his dad really wants me to publish my book. I've actually been getting that a lot from other people I know in real life and though I'm happy I also feel pressure. I really need to finish the art for it. Anyone that's seen even a fraction of my stuff knows it's good. I know it's good. I know it would do great. The only thing holding me back is me. Nothing or no one else is in my way except myself. So yeah, I really need to do that. Procrastination is a flaw of mine that I've been trying to change. So we showed them the house, the birds and some video games.

Today we went to Michael's. I wanted to get a scraper for my pumpkin. We found a tiny one specifically for pumpkin carving but they didn't have any you could buy individual in the sculpting section. They were there but came in sets with other tools I'll never use. But Chris bought me some awesome stuff. He bought me a Fall wreath. I've been wanting one of those for a long time and they were majorly discounted which is rare. We found a rectangle multi-color diamond I've never seen and a cute little gourd turkey kit. I'll post pics of that tomorrow. I was very happy.

I also finally drew up the templates for my pumpkins. I made the one of Cope and a budgie one. Here is the budgies one.

Flying Budgie Pumpkin Carving

I made both of these this morning. I'll post the Cope one tomorrow. I usually carve my pumpkins on the 30th, but when we got home from Michael's I didn't feel so well. My back has been hurting since yesterday evening when I made the last batch of cookies. Making cookies is killer on my back. Although I REALLY wanted to make pumpkins today, I don't think sitting at the counter bent over would have been good. So tomorrow I hope Chris will still be here to help me with the opening and removing of the seeds. I really can't wait to make these.

You'll get to see Cope in this video I made of all the decorations that are up.

I sent out all five V-gifts today. Don't foget that I bought paid accounts for some of you last year so you can also send five free V-gifts to your friends or send them back and forth. If you don't know how and want to learn just ask me.

Glad you got a new pumpkin for the entrance. It's a shame the other one went soft. That's interesting you can get carving pumpkins. We just have regular pumpkins round here lol!

Nice work on the budgie design! I hope it carves well.
You've got lots of cool decorations! I wish Halloween was as big here as it is there.

Yeah it's really nice. Luckily it's still doing well but yeah it does have a bad spot so it won't last as long. I think any decent sized orange pumpkins can be used for carving. I just called it that. There are so many varieties of pumpkins here you never know what you have.

Thanks. I just now finished Cope and am rather frustrated. I should have started with the budgie first as it seems easier. I may not make her this year unfortunately or may-be later. Too bad.

Thanks. Well it starts with people like you. Who cares what others are or aren't doing. Decorate anyway and eventually things catch on.

Your house looks really nice! You have done a lot of work on it. I appreciated all of it. Your front yard looks really good. I like Chris's room - nice and dark. Your designs are really good, too. So many good things in this video.

That's cool that you made templates. Hopefully others will try them and let you know they turned out.

I know last year's budgie has been getting a lot of views. I would love to see if anyone did this and sent me a picture.

Oh, I love your halloween video, Des! I had many comments I wanted to make as it went along, now let's see if I can remember them all . . .

I see you got a lot of those border stones in your front yard. Those are what we used to make all our raised beds out back. I think you already knew that, right?

The giant pumpkins are my favorites, too, and the huge stem is what I like most about them. They just seem to convey a lot of power to me. And, I love to touch and wrap my fingers around them. Also, really liked the yellow pumpkins.

Wow! I didn't know pumpkins could last a year (talking about yours by the front door). I like the spider commune at the front entrance. I bet it really does look good at night all lit up.

Little "bird on a wire" looks good--right at home--among all the halloween things on your window!

Question: On the shelf that you had the words "Trick or Treat" on, was that a bird made out of a gourd down at the right end? It went by pretty fast, but really caught my eye . . . very unusual looking.

I liked seeing your computer room and your treasures there, and knowing that is where you spend most of your time. I can easily visualize you there now.

And last, the movie room! (aka Chris' room) That is such a cool space. I love how it can be made so dark . . . as it should be for a movie room. And it looks like a perfect spot for relaxing together and playing games and watching movies.

An excellent video!
I love your determination and enthusiasm in everything you do.

I'm glad I checked my comments. I almost missed this. Thanks for responding.

Those were there with the house. I bought two pink ones a while ago and need lots more to make the desert garden I want. Perhaps I can collect them over the winter.

Last year was the first time I saw some with such huge stems. I love them too. They feel woody.
I've heard pumpkins called Long Keepers but I am amazed my One Too Many is hanging in there still. I'm glad I didn't make it into a JackOLantern. I bet my other one would still be around but I broke it open for the seeds. It was almost a year old too. They must be drying like gourds.

Hehe that's spider web thing is the only thing left up that's Halloween still. I just haven't been able to take it down because it's too high up. And Chris gets home late and tired so I keep forgetting to ask for help. Hehe. It was nice. I now have a Fall wreath on the door and the pumpkins are great to double up for me for Helloween and now Thanksgiving.

Yep little Bird on a Wire gets to see the seasons change. His neighbors are constantly changing. Now he's surrounded by leaves and other things.

Yes that's a gourd bird. I bought that at the Inca store at Tarpon Springs. Sadly that store is gone. I loved going there. Here is a link to a post with a pic of him and the Halloween stuff. And here is an old pic I took a few years ago.

I love my computer room. I do have some of my favorite decorations on my desk but it's not quite how I'd like it yet.

When we moved into the house it's the first room we fixed up. It had some ugly colors and we repainted it right away because Chris needed his sanctuary in the dark. It's one of the very few things we're opposite on. He likes darness I light brightness.
Here is a post showing how the room was before we painted it.
