Old shows and a dream
Livejournal's been down nearly all day. I noticed it was slow when I hit reply and submit. Whatever that problem is I'm sure is tied to it being down. It's still slow and lousy for responding. I hope they fix it soon.

I got a teensy bit of work done in Illustrator today. I haven't felt too well because I had a bad headache but I forced myself to work on some art. I got a little further inking Looten Plunder. When I got bored of that I worked on two other drawings on paper. I also scanned in the drawing of Sorath and Thagirion sparring. That one will be the next one I ink after Looten. That one needs to be done. It will just rock. So getting it scanned was actually a big step. I looked at my sig and can't believe I did it in Jan of 2010. Doesn't feel like more than a year. Feels like I did it just a few weeks ago. I hate that!

I've started watching the X-Men cartoon from the 90's on Netflix. I loved that show. It's the first show I watched that had amazing coloring. I loved and hated that it was a continous show. I love shows with chapters and continuity but at the same time it killed me wanting to know what would happen next. Each ep ended in a cliff hanger. More so than any other chapter based shows so it was frustating and the endings always seemed to come too soon. Weekends were the worst because it took forever for Monday to roll back around. And I never finished it. This one has 70+ episodes. I hope that's all of them and that it actually has an ending because even after all these years I want to know what happened. I never read the comics so everything I know about X-men I learned from this cartoon and measure everything else by it. Here's something cool I just found out. While listening to Rouge talk she kept reminding me of someone. Then I realized it's the same voice actor that did Sizzle from Stunt Dawgs. AWESOME! So now I like her because I just imagine she's Sizzle. And they're both red heads so that's cool.
Oh and in one ep there was a bad guy that looked A LOT like Owen. I was thrilled though he was a minor character that didn't really say or do anything. HEhe, I'm actually happy there have been several cartoon characters that look like him. The guy from Jem and even Egon from Ghostbusters who I think was a big subconsious influence for me.

I'm going to post this dream here because it's short and I don't feel like logging into my dream journal. I managed to have a lucid dream last night. I've been trying for a long time to have a dream where I'm Sorath to get to know him better. I realized I was dreaming. I had just stepped out of a house and was on some stone steps since the entrance was raised. I stood at the top set and go, "Oh my, this is a dream!" Immideately I wanted to start flying but calmed myself down. "No wait, wait! I'm supposed to do something!" I said, but the dream was starting to fade. I hate it when that happenes when you get lucid. "No! I will do this!" I yelled. "Sorath! I'm supposed to be Sorath!" I was so happy I actually remembered. So I concentrated. Nothing happened. I tried again and finally turned into him, but this was weird because my vision went to 1st person. Usually I dream in 3rd where I can see myself. Since I couldn't see myself I didn't get that feeling of really BEING him. I still felt like myself even though I had done it. So it was only like half a transformation. I even wondered if it had worked. I leaped into the air and flew off, but the world kept fading to grey and despite being lucid everything collapsed and I must have gone into normal sleep. Darn it! I hate that. So mission partially accomplished.

I remember Rogue and Sizzle's voices being not only done by the same actress, but extremely close in how they sounded, too. I liked the 90s X-Men cartoon also. I only really got to watch the first season back when it was airing, though, because the second one started when I went away to college, and I had no TV in my dorm room so I couldn't keep up with it.

Yes it was the same voice so that was really cool. The reason I used to watch the Mario cartoon was because Koopa had the same voice as Badyear. I think I only saw the first season too for the same reason. I just didn't have as much time for cartoons and video games anymore after I got into college. That sucked but at the same time the mid 90's is also when quality quickly went down hill so I think I got out at a good time.

Its been down the past two mornings and is back up in the evening. I wonder what the problem is.

Lol I have a ref sheet I've been procrastinating with. I don't often leave art and come back to it but lately I have been.

Oh cool! I'm on a total X-Men kick right now. I really need to see the 90s series. I've watched all of X-Men: Evolution now which is about when they first got their powers and although they keep a lot the same as the comics, there are a few little differences but I love the style, the cartoon is well animated and shaded. Better than Wolverine and the X-Men which I watched an episode of the other day on YouTube. I need to see if the Marvel YouTube channel has the 90s X-Men series. Is Rogue your fave? At the moment she is the one I can relate to the most but I think I'm most like Shadowcat and Nightcrawler is my fave. I also like Quicksilver, Gambit, Pyro, Cyclops and Berzerker.

I think some of the best dreams are where you dream you are your own characters. Congrats on lucid dreaming even if only for a short while!

I commented on LJ_maintenence and News. They've gotten a few complaints already. They should have made an announcement by now and told us what's going on.

Don't feel bad. You're not as bad as I am at least. It's something I've been trying to change but has been very difficult.

I saw your new icon. Hum, I see the anime influence in the art so I'm warry of it. But I saw it on Netflix so I can check it out and if the story is good perhaps I can look past the art. I don't know who my favorite is. I'm really liking Rogue right now just because she reminds me of Sizzle, but that could be a totally misplaced fandom and I shouldn't base it on that. I've done it before and had it backfire on me. But I like how confident and sexy she is. I don't know who my fave is. Probably Magneto. Need to get to know him again. I am finding Beast interesting and amusing. He's a nerd.
Do you get Netflix in England? It's a nice thing to be subscribed to if you don't mind they are older releases.

Yes, I basically live for those dreams. Yes despite being short I was very happy to have remembered what to do. That was a big accomplishment actually.

I agree. Someone told me they were unable to reply to comments even now so I hope this gets through to you.

Its slightly anime I guess but not that noticable. My human drawing style is based on the style of Evolution and has been for many years now. I'm happy that it helped me find a style I liked. Magneto is cool. I like him in the X-Men movies too.

Yes we do! But you have to pay for it right? I sadly don't have the money unless its really cheap.

Simpsons helped me learn to draw people, but I think I already had a style. I used to draw a lot of Simpsons and then finally got brave enough to draw humans on their own. But my style looks nothing like that luckily.

Over here it's cheap. It's like $9 a month. I think it's worth it. I've been watching documentaries on it. Just watched a great one about Spanish Conquistadors.

Netflix sounds a bit like our iview which is free and put out by the ABC. It's become very popular, though, and goes down from time to time.

I like to hear/read about people's dreams, so if you post them here, that's okay with me. I hardly ever lucid dream, but do occasionally manage to control one, and boy, am I happy when I do that!
Desthagirion on July 29th, 2011 12:17 pm (UTC)
Yeah, Netflix is paid but it's cheap and you pay around $9 a month and can watch as much stuff as you want that's in their library. They have lots of videos but they're about a year and older. So it's not for people that want to watch something before the DVD comes out. Since we aren't those people that can't wait for release dates on all things it's fine. We don't mind waiting especially when we didn't want to spend a lot at the theater or even spend to rent once it's out. It's also nice because you don't have to return anything and drive out again.

Oh, I'm glad to hear you're interested in my dreams. Sometimes I'll post my dreams here that I think everyone would like or that are really short. But I'll just go ahead and add you to my dream journal Thagirion. I only post my best or most interesting stuff not every dream so it won't be flooding your friend's list.
