It's summer
We fed the birds in record time today. I went on a job with Chris. Something told me to go. We ended up going to Bradenton and I was very happy because we passed by the area where Earthmother lives and I recognized it. I didn't have her number so I couldn't let her know we were in town. Too bad. It was a beautiful drive and we went all the way out to Anna Marie island. The royal poincianas are in bloom now.

It rained pretty heavily on our way back. There were some cranes across the street from my house. That's the closest they've ever been. I put some sunflower seeds for them on the ground but they didn't eat them. The day was kind of crappy weather wise after that, but it's been good. Chris has been home helping me with chores. I should be getting a plant order in tomorrow. Possibly two. Here's hoping. Oh, happy June everyone! It's officially summer now! Oh gosh this week is our 7 year wedding anniversary. Though it's 15 years 4 months total.

Phone call or not, you are ALWAYS welcome. I would have loved to have opened the door and seen your sweet face!

Yes, the Royal Poincianna in our neighbor's back yard is in full bloom now. We had a terrible storm here today and about a hundred of those giant seed pods ended up on the ground. Sorry you were out driving in all that rain. I thought we were getting a tornado because the winds were blowing and gusting so much. Lots of lightning, too. There was so much debris and limbs that blew out of the trees in our yard, too.

That's so neat that the cranes were that close to your house!

Happy Anniversary!

Aw thanks. If I had known then I definitely would have stopped. We didn't get any other calls and it would have been so nice. Yeah it was scary driving in that. I was a bit nervous with all the rain. I would have been giddy seeing all those giant pods on the ground though afterwards.

Yeah, I'd love to befriend them. It's so difficult to gain wildbirds' trust. But I just need time. I've made friends with hawks and crows I know I could with cranes if they gave me a chance.

Erghh I wish it felt like summer here :( I need to live over there lol!

Yeah the weather is better, just don't move to the northwest states because they have the same crappy weather. Oregon and Washington. They suck.

Aaaw...that's a pity you didn't get to see Earthmother. She would have met Chris, too. But it must have been a nice drive...except for the heavy rain and high winds at the end!

Good luck with the cranes. They might not want to go into an enclosed back yard. The cattle egrets never do (except for one injured one which I rehabilitated), but the smaller grey cranes sometimes do. They are very shy of humans, though.

And Happy 7th Wedding Anniversary!

Oh, and happy official summer! Here it's not officially winter, and been feeling like that for a month, now :(

Yeah, I know. I wish we had gone now, but how could we have known. I would like her to meet him. Yeah the drive there was nice.

I don't know if they'll come back. Most cranes aren't afraid of people and like living in subdivisions. But I've never seen any come to my street. They do fly over often.

I consider the begining of every three months to be the new season. Also the summer weather has been in full swing for several days now.

I totally understand why you wouldn't have wanted to arrive unannounced. A lot of people hate that. Oh well, you will know better next time!

Yep, I'm one of those people.

You got rain? Maybe you could send some of it to me. It always seems to pass over my neighborhood, and the plants need it badly.

Be glad to. June first is the official start of Hurricane Season. But this week the next few days are going to be sunny. I'm glad about that.

Ya know, its always nice to just get out, go do something, drive around, enjoy the weather, and have an honest to god awesome day and have a nice bit of rain to accent it off. =)

I don't mind rain so long as I'm not driving in it and it's a dangerous storm. Other than that it was very nice to get out and drive far away.
