Illustrator problem
The good news is I finished inking that drawing I was working on. I'm glad about that. But I thought I'd discovered something amazing in Illustrator only to have it taken away from me. I found that the pencil was way better for tracing than the pen. Suddenly it made everything so much faster and was very accurate with my hand movements. I was thrilled. I was giddy. Production had suddenly vastly increased. But then suddenly it was gone. When you use the pencil and trace by pulling it leaves a colored line. For me since I'm on layer two it's red. This is nice because you can see if you're on the lines. Then it fills it with black. Well mine just stopped doing that. So when you drag the pencil there's nothing. You don't know if you messed up your stroke or not. But once you let go the line you made appears. So basically you're drawing with invisible ink and you don't know what I've made until you let go. What had been so easy was now hard. I tried it with the tablet and the mouse and none works. That means it's the program. I messed with the preferences and that didn't work either. Sometimes while using the tablet the lines will come back for a little, but when you make a new one it's invisible again. This tells me it's the program that's glitched. I don't know what to do about this and don't want to reinstall because it take literally HOURS to install Adobe CS4. I hate CS4 actually. I never wanted to upgrade. I want my CS3 back. This has me very distraught. At least I got the drawing finished and can now work in photoshop. And I can still trace with the pencil in Illustrator, it's just that now it's harder and I can't see anything. So yeah I'm just awesome that I can draw with an invisible pen. I should be proud of that but right now I'm more distraught. Anyone have any idea how to fix it? Sigh, I'm probably the only one here that use Illustrator anyway.

How hard and frustrating that would be to draw and not know what you are drawing until you lift the pencil. It reminded me of drawing on the eggs at Easter with wax. I hope you can get it corrected or get some solution to it. It's way beyond me . . . I don't have a clue to help.

I'm pretty upset right now. I was so happy and high from having found this cool feature and now it decides to not work for no reason. It's so glitchy and sometimes the lines appear and sometimes they don't. It's ok. I'll figure something out eventually. Yeah it is kind of like drawing on the eggs.

Sadly I don't use it :(

It's ok. I can probably still draw with it.

I checked the options for that tool but I only have Illustator 10 and CS 2 at work and there the pencil tool only has a few options for the produced paths but nothing for the preview. It sounds like a bug to me.
You could try to make a reset for all the options and restart it a few times then, that is all that I know about it. Sometimes Adobe programms are just crazy and a few new starts of the programm or computer reboots can help (it helped with PS CS4 problems for me at work at least).

But I would ask some more people before I would just deinstall and reinstall it completely.

Yeah I'm starting to think it's definitely a glitch. I'll keep trying it. May-be it will fix itself. I wish I had CS3 again.
