I finally got a chance to go to the eye doctor today. I had one of those internal eye pictures taken. It was kinda gross, but I liked the one camera you got to look into and there was a little picture of a farm house in the distance. That was neat. When they told me not to blink or move I did. I tried not to but it just happened hehe. Dr. Mario wasn't the one who saw me. Forget the doctor's name that did see me but he was very nice. I've noticed that all the eye doctors I've gone to see are very soft spoken which is nice and that helps to relax the patient. He said my eyes have actually gotten better and that my glasses were over compensating. They need to be lowered. This is great news but not a huge difference. I'm still going to need huge lenses. My eyes are healthy otherwise. He gave me a trail pair to see how I do with them for a week then I go back in next Saturday. It's so good to wear contacts again. These are definitely much better than my last pair from the old place. But they are still not perfectly focused. When I read stuff I get like a halo effect or one double letters with one slightly above the other. Perhaps the perscription is still wrong. He did have to change out my right eye since the first contact I put in just wasn't working. But my headache did go away and my eye doesn't hurt anymore. I hope it stays this way. So yes I'm pretty happy with this new place. On the way out Dr. Mario did see me and waved me down saying, "Hey you look different!" Yeah no more Coke bottles hehe.

It rained nearly all day today. The patio got all flooded. The poor hens were indoors most of the day. If it doesn't rain tomorrow I have to wash the patio again at least to get all the sand and stuff the water brought in. Oh and I got those Happy Hen Treats in the mail the other day. The bag was smaller than I imagined. The worms are hollow and very light. They're dried but my girls do love them despite them just being a bunch of shells. I can't imagine them having as much protien as the canned ones do that are still meaty. They really are just treats and not a supplement to their normal diet. For a protein treat I need to keep buying cans or raise my own which I've always wanted to do. Perhaps one day. I do want to have a bug lab. I just don't have the room right now.
EDIT: WTF, is wrong with my cookies? I check on my communities here and click on the profile names of all the members. I know once they are purple I've looked at them. When I see blue ones I know they are new. Before they always stayed purple after clicking them. Now they are turning blue on me all the time and I'm sick of clicking on names I've clicked on already. Anyone know how to stop this?

I remember once at an eye doctor appointment somewhere, I saw the reflections of the blood vessels in my eye in the light. One of them looked like those ugly dead trees that are always by cartoon haunted houses. It freaked me out so I called it the evil tree.

Yeah I hate that. That always happens to me when they shine the light in my eye. Hum, I need a "yuck" icon with someone sticking out their tongue.

When they told me what the evil tree really was, if I was a cartoon I would have had a green face and twisty eyes. I can't go to the eye doctor without getting grossed out.

That is great news about your eye health! I dread going to get my eyes checked again because I know they have gotten worse and I will need new glasses. I try to time it with renewing my drivers licence because I need to have an eye test and letter from my optomotrist saying that I am fit to drive and can see properly. That is weird about the reading but is it a long-sight thing? It sounds like maybe text gets over-magnified by the lens prescription but I only go by my own experience.

My chickens tend to stay indoors a lot when it gets rainy. They either hang out in the hen house but when the rain starts getting in there they all migrate to the garage. It's nice of you to treat your girls that way. I don't know of many people that make that effort.

I am not sure it's your cookies that are the problem. I noticed after making my last entry that my text effects aren't working. My CSS changes bold and italic words to another colour on my journal and bold them so they stand out and it's not working suddenly. I think LJ is having issues but I am not certain.

That's so weird other countries do that. I never did, it just says I have to wear lenses when driving. Yeah, I'm going to mention that when I go back because I don't think it's right still and it bugs me I can't focus.

Yeah chickens don't like rain or snow. I hear when there's snow on the ground they don't come out if they can't see the ground. I love my hens. I know most people that keep chickens they are just a work animal that you feed and remove its eggs. But they are pets to me, that I've worked with and tamed. When they get old and stop laying they won't become dinner. I'll keep them until they die of old age and spoil them. I treat them the way I treat my other birds. They're definitely spoiled and I worry about them.

I dont' think it's LJ. It's the active link and visited link color. Defualt on all computers it's blue and the visited is purple. It's always been that way. The fact they're turning blue again and I have to click them to make them purple tells me they are getting dumped from my memory somehow. I don't like that.

I think it's only a requirement for people with eye-sight problems. They usually have people do the machine test at the MVR to make sure someone can see but for someone like me that needs glasses or contacts to see normally, I have to have my eyes checked by an optomotrist whenever I renew my licence but that is every five years. I also have the condition stated on my actual licence though.

I never knew about the snow but that is pretty nifty. Kind of odd but I think they are smart to do that. Our pets are mostly for a work animal.. we gets eggs off them and they usually keep the pest population down so we never have fleas or ticks. We lost our oldest hen recently, Macy, she was really, really old. I think we had her well over 10 years. Not sure what she died from really but the other hens stayed clear of the henhouse for a few days. The only time we've eaten our own was when we had too many roosters and had to get rid of a few. We've never spoiled ours though but I like the idea of chicken treats.

Ah, I see what you mean now. I hope you get it figured out because anything getting dumped from your memory isn't a good sign.

Glad the eye doctor visit went well. I like when they shine the torch in your eye and you can see all the little veins at the back.

Our utility room keeps getting flooded, we don't know where the leak is really but our weather is back to normal now. Wet.
That's odd about your cookies. Last time that happened to me, I had a virus.

You're the only person I've ever heard say that.

Yikes, let's hope that's not what that is.

I'm glad you got to the eye doctor today and that you no longer have headaches!

You are a very good chook mum to get the chooks in to the pergola while it rains. And you got them meal worm treats (at least I assume that they are meal worms). You truly care for them.

It would be cool to raise meal worms if it was not too hard.
Des: Henriettathagirion on January 18th, 2011 02:20 pm (UTC)
Well I do still have it. It started again this morning. Hopefully they can figure out the problem when I go again.

They are my pets so I treat them as such. I love them and play with them. I don't have the room right now but I need three little critter cages to breed mealworms with. I looked into it a few years ago. My other birds would like them too.

I don't think I've ever seen the internal eye picture. That sounds pretty neat.

Sorry to hear that the Happy Hen treats were a disappointment. So the pictures on the site were misleading? That's a shame.

I have no idea what your issue with the cookies is. I take it you haven't cleared your history or ran a Norton scan that deleted your cookies or anything like that?

They look like eggs candled.
They weren't a disapointment. Just not what I had expected. My chickens do love them so that's what counts. I just thought the bag would be bigger and the worms would have stuff in them. I had read they were dried but hadn't imagined they'd be like pork rinds. They really are just a treat. The one good thing is these will definitely last way longer than the little cans. So I'll probably buy them again.

Like I told Kaetarin above, I know it has to do with visited and active links but not sure what's happening. No have not cleared my history or run any scans. I suspect my computer must be set to dump cookies after a certain time which I don't like.
