Gaming because I can't play guitar
Was going through my icons archive and came across some funny grammar ones. I know how much you guys hate some of these mistakes. Chris hates the "Then and Than" one. I hate the "There, Their and They're" one. But too bad the professor is so ugly. There were only two so I made a bunch more of the most common grammar mistakes people don't know the difference for.
EDIT: I redid these and used a much better looking professor. Now these I'm proud of. Please do use. They actually have a border but with my teal background it disappears.

So we have "Your and You're", "There, Their and They're", "Then and Than", "To, Too and Two", "No and Know" and "Its and It's".
Oh yeah I also hate the "To, too and two" mix up. That one really irks me for some reason. So feel free to grab and use on your journals.

I'm taking a day off from bass playing not by choice though. Been doing a lot of fast playing and my right fingers are really hurting. When I touch the strings they feel like they're going to start bleed. Why does this happen when I'm most into it? YARG! So last night I was playing with a pick. I don't like picks. Songs I play well didn't sound so good and I just could NOT play The Final Countdown because I could not get the speed out of the pick. I had to leave notes out and it's just not that good that way...play quarter notes when they're eigth notes. My book says you can play the pick with all down strokes so that's what I was doing. Chris says that's a "no no" in guitar but it's allowed in bass. I think whenever I take up the guitar I'm going to have some bad habits because I'm mostly a bass player. So I stopped and I'm not playing today. It hurts a little to even type. How annoying. He told me it's like a guy working out. It hurts then he gets better, pushes himself until it hurts again then has to take another break. Oh! I thought it was only one pain at the beginning. I don't like taking breaks unless I chose too. I'm just taking it easy over all today as I think the cold is making my back act up too. I'm doing very well learning Jessie's Girl though that one hurts my left hand because it's mostly on the E string and I have to use strength to hold it down. I've decided I will learn Breaking The Law by Judas Priest next.

I can't wait to get my tabs music CD's. I ordered them a while ago from England so it's probably going to take forever for them to get here. If they turn out to be as cool as I'm imagining then I'll definitely be ordering more from this guy. I'm so impatient hehe.

I told myself last night since I wasn't going to play I should work on my art. But I'm just not in the mood to mess around on the computer artwise today. I did finish the Christmas Party drawing. Cope is the only one I'm not happy with.

And Solan is decent but Cope just looks bad. I can't do much about it though. If he bugs me too much I may try to fix him, but I'm not even sure what's wrong. Solan looks a little fat too, but he's not. He's muscular and a big guy wearing a jacket like that would probably look bigger. But I like that he's working on accounting paper work and Cope's on his laptop. They're just not into the party. They're probably trying to shut Owen out despite the fact that Owen sings well. I'm sure he's quite loud.

And Rockstar games is doing something cool. Instead of a double experience weekend they're doing double experience WEEK for Red Dead Redemption Chris got me to level 50 and it's even more points in hardcore so that's what he's been doing. We've started over by becoming legends and doing it all over again. Since everything is reset I'm looking forward to playing and doing the hunting challenges and flower picking stuff. It's not just doing the same hideout over and over like it was getting so tedious. I would like to make it to level 50 again. The hardest thing in hardcore is that there's not auto lock on. For me that's very hard. Other than that it's not so bad. So since I can't play music or do much else I'll just sit in front of my cowboy video game.

I hate word mix ups too. I especially hate it when I catch myself doing them and have to fix it. Bad me has two degrees and should know better.

I'd try to shut him out too, but I have serious trouble shutting things out. It's one of the big reasons I don't care for huge parties, other than the fact that there are lots of people there.

Yeah me too. I don't like seeing "Its and It's" mixed up but I don't bring those up like I do the others I mentioned because I mess those up. Not because I don't know the difference but because I'm careless or typing to fast. I havea degree too, but it wasn't in English. I'm better at grammar than at spelling but the spelling might be because I have dyslexia. So I don't really point out spelling errors but am harder on grammar errors. I've been looking up images and might redo these with a nicer image of the professor. I'm really starting to hate that little lego man.

Yeah, I would too if he were singing something I didn't care for. He's probably singing Christmas music since that's what the party's about. If it's too loud I can't shut stuff out so I can understand. I've got a "party" I'm going to tomorrow night I'm nervous about.

How about with the pick you do both down and up strokes. Then you'd get two movements in the space of one! Heh, why not break all the rules?

I have much more trouble with my left hand than my right. My left hand is just not strong enough. At one time I exercised it with a small exercise ball. But I have given my favourite one to my granddaughter. I really thought at the time I should learn piano to make my ands stronger, but the cost of lessons ahs always been out of my reach. Arthritis has set in now, gah!

Its and it's probably annoy me the most. I don't understand how people can get their to, too and twos mixed up. They all annoy me really, maybe that's because I have a degree in Language and Literature :P But I do find myself making some of these mistakes. When I do it's because of typos, not knowledge!

Haha, that made me laugh. You're definitely NOT an S type. Yeah, I try to play by the book but if it doesn't work for me and I can make it sound right doing it my way I will. Like on the budgie song Chris was getting on my case for giving one finger to each string in my right hand instead of both on one. But it was easier for me since both strings are next to each other. "Just for this one song!" Hehe, yeah I'm a sneaky student all my teachers have had to watch out for me because I always try to pull stuff like that.

Sometimes my left hand hurts. I have the hardest time with the E string of course because it takes the most strength. I got scolded too for playing the first F with my second finger which would be half position. There's no such thing on guitars but there is in violin. But that F is the hardest note for me as it's the first on the E and so far up there it takes the most strength to push. Oh and don't dare to use your thumb on the E string. A guitar teacher will wack you for that one haha!

Sorry to hear your hand hurts too. Perhaps you can find a new ball to use. Yeah, I would LOVE to have lessons too but it's the same thing. I just can't aford them right now. That's why I stopped playing violin. It still bothers me as I never wanted to quit.

I think because TO and TOO are similiar it's easy and lazy to leave off the last O or they don't see why there should be a difference. That's understandable but when I learned it it really helped that I was told if you can replace it with "also" then it's T-o-o. I never forgot it since then. I'm harder on myself when I make these mistakes.

Oh, I've gt more than a little S in me. But definitely am an F.

One thing I have never tried to do with the left hand on the bass is use my thumb :P

I do have another exercise ball, but it is pink - my favourite colour - NOT! All I have to do is find it :)

I totally agree with Chris. I HATE the then and than one. More then. PFFFT! It makes me annoyed. It's more THAN. Honestly these people. And the worst thing, people pick it up from others and then it gets passed around.
My ex stalker told me that she knew she was writing it the wrong way and yet she still did it. What, to be cool? Cos that's not cool!

Your picture is coming along nicely. I like Cope, he seems involved in his laptop trying to ignore Owen lol!
Heheh good luck with the experience on the game!

Hehe, I know how much you hate it so I had you in mind when I made that one. I found a better looking teacher than that ugly thimble guy. I'll remake them and you can use them then.

Thanks. Yeah, he really just wants to tune everything out and play with his lap top. Thanks. I might play a little today.

Haha! Yes, all those mistakes drive me nuts, too. I can see it happening as a typo, but when people make them all the time it's really aggravating to read. It makes you wonder if they slept through English class.

Sorry to hear your fingers hurt from playing so much. That's got to be frustrating!
Desthagirion on December 29th, 2010 12:57 pm (UTC)
I find it interesting which ones bother people more than others.

Yeah it is. Hopefully today it won't be a problem anymore.
