Christmas Eve
I had a very good day yesterday. And more good things just kept happening. About a month ago I took 10 of my pigeons on a training toss less than a mile from the house. Only 5 came back and I'd lost all my young birds. They all have phone number legbands on them and yesterday I got a call from a woman that she had found one of my doves. It was living at a tailer park and was being fed by the residents. I wrote the whole story Here on my pigeon/bird journal. Rarely do lost pigeons have a happy ending like that. I'm so glad I got those leg bands. And yes, I'm glad he brought happiness to all those people. That's what my doves are supposed to do. The lady said her dog had died and the day after the pigeon showed up and they considered it their peace dove. I'm glad to have him back because he's the only 2010 baby that made it from last year's breeding. That was definitely a nice Christmas gift.

I started work on the drawing again. I've begun to draw Solan and sure enough just as I thought he's given me a bit of a hard time. I think he's good enough but he never looks as good as the others in these group shots for some reason. And I'm going to be a lazy artist and cheat. I'm going to draw a table cloth so I don't have to draw their legs. Hehe. So just a few more details on him and then I'll draw Cope whom I had started but also gave me a hard time and I erased. Come on you two! Knock it off!

Oh and I weighed my guitar yesterday. Chris stood on the scale then I handed him my guitar and we did the math. TEN POUNDS!! My huge guitar weighs 10 lbs! HA, I was totally wrong when I said I thought he weighed 5. That's almost 1/10th of my weight. Well the more I carry him around the stronger I'll get. I need to build up my endurance.

No big plans for Christmas. We just want to stay home and do nothing. It will be fun to relax and have a quiet Christmas. We stocked up on hot chocolate since everything will be closed on the 25th. It's possible things are already closed now. But luckily Tina owns the chinese restrant and will stay open on the 24th. So will our friend Peter who I think is Indian. His gas station and store is down the road so if we need food we can still get stuff. Thank goodness for the hard working business men that DON'T celebrate Christmas. It would be silly for the whole country to just shut down. I love it that it doesn't matter what your religion is, if you want to work and make money you can do so any day of the year.

I want to share with you this very nice video of light displays in different parts of El Salvador. I just LOVE the song too. If anyone's curious I'll write down the lyrics and translate. I like how even the church was decked out in one scene. Down there it's on non stop party from December 1-31st. Hehe, Spanish are such extroverts. I just love the Santas and deer set out of place in a tropical country. It's funny. Even the Christmas trees are out of place. People down there only have artificial trees. But the spirit of Christmas is very strong.

EDIT: Schneeshnaf, thanks so much for the Christmas Bear. I ran out of them. :( But I dedicate this Weird Al song to you for the Christmas season. I think it's right up your alley. Christmas At Ground Zero.

I'm glad you got your dove back.

Why can't they bring some of that Christmas spirit back here? We have little pockets where people go all out, but I think overall people are decorating less.

Huntersville might shut down anyway if the weather man is right about tomorrow. If they are, it will be the first white Christmas ever for this area. I'm going to be out with my camera if it is. We had them about every other year in Indiana, but people who grew up here will freak if they get one.

Yeah, it's rare to get them back.

Yeah I know. People need to be enjoying it more...unless they're just lazy. I didn't decorate outside though I wanted to. I don't have enough lights yet, but we'll be buying more and more as the years go by.

Well I hope you do get your white Christmas then. Post pics. I like looking at snow pics and videos. Just not actually being there.

We actually have had snow here before, but it usually isn't until January that we get it. The people who aren't transplanted Northerners or Midwesterners go crazy when we get it. I saw more snowmen here when it snowed last January than I ever did in Indy.

I find that funny about the snowmen. But I can imagine why.

Oh I bet. Christmas in Miami is awesome. I spent one down there. I have a friend down there that I've lost contact with and would love to get in touch with again and visit.

Good luck with the drawing! I dunno how much my guitar weighs. I doubt its as heavy as yours because its not a solid body guitar.

I do nothing Christmas day too, just sit around and watch TV, open gifts and eat food. Only trouble is I got a sore throat today -_- Still, early to bed and I should feel better in the morning.

Awesome light shows!

Well it's not going to make it in time now. I never drew Cope and I don't think I could ink and color everything in one day. Darn. But I will finish it.
Nah, classicals are light. I bet it's less than a pound. On a scale your weight probably wouldn't change if you held it.

I'm looking forward to a lazy day today too. I went out most of the day yesterday and had my fill of it though a lot of neat things happened.

Yes, it's all so pretty.

No problem about the bear; you're quite welcome. And thank you very much for sharing that Weird Al song with me. I hadn't heard of it before. That is definitely one of the best Christmas songs/videos ever. lol

I've had far too much going on lately to update my journal and keep up with my friends, and for that i apologize. I have tried twice now to post an entry since i got back from my trip and simply found myself at a loss for words to describe how amazing it was. I may have to make it my New Year's resolution to post again and resume my regular commenting routine, lol.

I'm glad to hear things have been going so well for you. That's great that you got your pigeon back! I hope your Christmas was wonderful!

I'm surprised you've never heard it. I should send you a few more nuclear themed songs. Some funny and some just rockin'.

I understand. I know you are busy and have to take care of things, but I figured you were around. Yes new years resolution sounds good. A lot has happened to me with the main thing being I'm now a bass player and own an evil bass hehe.

Thanks. Yes Christmas was very good.

I'm dreadfully unfamiliar with American music. Really, it's shameful. I just never paid a whole lot of attention to anything but classical until i discovered Rammstein and got into all the German industrial stuff. I would love to hear these other nuclear-themed songs you know of, or anything else you'd care to recommend...you'd probably know what i'd like.

I'm kind of around...i've lurked a bit, but haven't had the chance to read most of your recent posts. I'll have to go back and catch up (although i probably won't reply on the old stuff, since i think you don't get notifications and may not see it anyway, but i would like to know what's going on). That is totally awesome that you're a bass player! I did see your guitar and it is indeed badass, hehe.

Ok, I've got a few ones. I think you'd like Weird Al and Tom Lehrer because they are comdy singers with very dark senses of humor. I can actually get you the mp3's to all of these if you'd like. They are on Chris's computer though so I'll post the youtubes here for now.

Tom Lehrer - We Will All Go Togethe When We Go

Tom Lehrer - The Wild West Is Where I Want To Be

Hum, I should have reversed those since I think "We Will All Go Together" is the sequel to "The WIld West" Now this next one isn't about bombs but I think you'll like it too. This is easily in my top 5 Lehrer songs.

Tom Lehrer - The Masochism Tango

Now for something more serious and beautiful. One of the things I love about Sonata Arctica is that their lyrics are subtle. It took me several listens to realize this song was about nukes since they don't come out and tell you directly. Also they're one of my favorite power metal bands. I think you'd really like a lot of the metal I listen to of which Rammstein is a small part of.

Sonata Arctica - Destruction Preventer

Heat in the center. Destruction preventer. If you release one, you release them all.

That's my favorite part of the song. Gosh I love Sonata...and the singer looks just like Thanatos only with a beard hehe.

I don't get messages but I do check my recent comments which is how I found this. Yep, I'm a bass player now and might be gettinga guitar next.
