Gaming again
Well all I did yesterday was play games. I've done so much the past few weeks that even though there wasn't much left to do with the arbor I was too tired and I deserved a break. Chris has been playing Red Dead Redemption on PS3. He's started doing the multiplayer stuff but not really playing with others. He's just been taking forts and fighting bad guys to level his character. I've been enjoying watching that and one of the things I like is that you can unlock more character models to use and horses. It's a cowboy game btw for those of you that don't know. But leveling takes forever and it's rediculous some of the things you have to do. This past week was double experience points so Chris played as much as he could and got to leve 28. Level 50 is technically the highest level, but now that points are back to normal it's crazy. Well not just that once you reach 50 you become a Legend. BUt there are levels of Legend as well. Five of them. And to get each one you have to start over and hit level 50 again each time. YARG!!! So technically it's 250 levels. So I told him when he wasn't around I'd be glad to play and level him. He hates doing some types of things that are tedious and repetitive. I'm the type that I love doing those repetitive things because I want to finish a goal.

So I've been doing stuff like jump to your death 25 times, do a roll 100 times, walk so many miles. Pick a certain amount of a certain plant. Kill x number of animals/brds in a specific way etc. Sometimes I can do a few of these things at once. Like I was looking for a certain plant and got attacked by wolves. Perfect. I had to kill five wolves and one kill had to be with a knife so that saved me the trouble of hunting them down. I've also been taking forts since that gives you the most experience. I LOVE the desert scenes in this game. The graphics are just beautiful. I think it's funny that our different ways of playing show the difference in our P and J nature. I need my closure. Once I set a goal I'll do it no matter how repetitive because once I get the reward OH it's so worth it! Oh and since I hate playing with other people and having them mess up what I'm doing, I'm SO glad this game has the online private feature. Basically I get the world to myself and it's as though I were playing a regular story game with no other real humans. Just how I like it because I hate all that multiplayer crap.

The last thing I really like about this game is that it's fun to change character models and hear what they all say. Right now I'm using a guy that looks a lot like Thanatos and I'm loving it. Thanatos is perfect for these types of gun games. I had also chosen another guy that looked like my character Leroy. But what's annoying is that both of them Spoke Spanish. WTF? They didn't look Spanish one bit and you sure could have fooled me when they had names like Jessie and Nick. Last time I looked those weren't Spanish names. You can pick your characters out of different groups. I seem to favor the Criminals. Both of them came from this batch. There is a group call Misc. Mexicans. I don't know why they weren't in there if they spoke Spanish and why they have English names. They don't even look Spanish. My shock when I made them talk. You guys also know I LOVE dialog in video games. Each character model has a bunch of diffrent taunts they say when you don't have your weapon drawn. I also like hearing what the other NPC's say espcially when I'm in a fight and everyone's swearing and threatening me. I'm really amazed how potty mouthed the Spanish speakers are. It's so funny. It's probably because the designers know they can get away with it since they think anyone that reviews the game only speaks English and they won't know. Also this is an adult game but still. Another thing I was telling Chris was that English isn't the best language for cussing and insulting. There's only a handful of really bad words in English. Hell and Damn are not part of them. I don't consider those bad words. So how many possible creative ways can you cuss? Stringing them all together isn't very effective nor does it sound grammatically correct. Yes there is a right and a wrong way to cuss/insult someone. Other languages are much more colorful and poetic when it comes to this. It's quite obvious with the Spanish guys I'm using right now. Hee hee. Also they're bad guys and being Spanish they have HUGE egos. They talk about themselves like kings and gods. One of the phrases paraphrased was "...the crowned villain has arrived." That's so cool. I love it when people know they're bad and don't have a problem with it. It really upsets those that think we should hehe.

The ancient dark dragon on Dragonadopters is finally out. It came out yesterday. I saw it change on my sidebar. I'm leaving it up for a few more days for those of you that hadn't seen it. I don't know what to think about it. I like the wings and that it's flying but something's REALLY wrong with it. May-be it's because it has no feet or may-be the ears make the head look too big. The ears should be flat against the sides of the head not out like that. I'm not sure. All I know is something is wrong and Thaz still can't draw to save his life. But I don't hate it like I felt about the feli and the ptero. I'm rather ambevalent and disapointed. It's neither good nor bad. I have liked all the other stages except the hatchling and now I'm glad I waited. I was thinking of saving up to buy one and color it white. But that's a huge investment and since I don't care for the ancient I don't want to be stuck with it. I will never released a dragon I bought. I won't release any actually because it takes too much time to grow them up to make them producers. But to release a bought dragon is a total waste of resources. So if you screw up you just have to suck it up. I don't know what to do and will think about this. Perhaps I should just go with a white wyvern instead. Actually this wouldn't be a problem if Thaz would get off his butt and implement MY List of Suggestions and add freezing. (Which I just updated with Freezing and lower coin prices.) IF he ever adds that he should allow us to change an older dragon to a younger stage and leave it there. If that isn't possible those of us with older accounts and all dragons at 110 are screwed with crappy ancients.

Perhaps today I can start putting up the new Halloween decorations Chris got me. They turned out so cool. I love these.

Here are some of the window clings. Of the pumpkin ones I LOVE the guy in the lower left. He looks like Joe Pechie. And the guy in the upper left looks like Larry from The Three Stooges.

I love window clings.

These are star balls. These were a big part of my childhood and a very common decoration in El Salvador. If it's metallic and tinsely it was used. Espcially for Christmas these are popular. But they're quite rare here in the states. I have two balls and a Christmas tree that I've cearfully folded and kept over the years from as far back that I can remember as the late 70's. These open up into a big star and you hang them from the cieling.

TISSUE DOVE!! I've found I really love these tissue art and metallic fold out things. Of course the dove isn't for Halloween, but I love doves/pigeons and I wanted this to hang in our bedroom year round. Speaking of round the orange thing is a tissue ball. It's kind of like a pumpkin. It's so flat and takes up no room, but I was amazed how huge it gets when you open it.

Opened like this it's a foot across! I love it. I got two of those and can't wait to hang them from the cieling.

I like the tissue pumpkin globe and the metallic star balls. Decorations like that are neat.

Also, glad to hear you've been having fun with your games. The multiplayer aspect was the main thing that I didn't like about EverQuest. If they'd released an offline version where you could play with friends on a LAN for raids or tough dungeons where you need multiple players I'd have bought that in a heartbeat.
Des: Halloween Pumpkinthagirion on September 29th, 2010 03:16 pm (UTC)
Yeah, they just have a fun feel to them.

Yeah, I don't see why people think those online muli-player stuff is so great. I'm definitely enjoying Red Dead. This is the first time where I've been into the online thing more than the main story of the game. I'll eventually have to start my own on my gamer card.
Is LAN like hooking up two computers together or two playstations? I'd love to play against just Chris but then we'd need another PS3 and another game. We're just not into PS3 enough to buy another one. I think this is the only game we have for it.

I'm not so keen on multiplayer unless I get to play against my friends but in most games let's face it, you can do that with your friends in the room with you anyway. The most epic game I played with my friends was Quake 3 Arena. We'd snuck it onto the school networked computers so the entire class was playing against each other before the teacher got there and when we had our free lessons and lunch breaks. It was great! Plus I have my custom Zorak avatar to use on there now. Only....I have no one to play against anymore cos its an old game and everyone else has moved on.

I like the small sprite of the Dark Dragon. I don't like the big artwork. Its just disappointing. I really expected something more than a pic that you couldn't even see most of the body that you had to be stuck with for the rest of the dragon's life. I said that on the forum. I wanted a pose more in tune with the original dragons. I HATE the ancient Feli. Arrrghhh...its face and paws are awful. That is the only ancient I really hate though. The Lizardus isn't that special but I don't have any of them. I like all the ones I have.

Those stickers are neat. Wow, Halloween is a bit like Christmas over there with all the decorations!

I wish you had an xbox. I bet you and I could have fun on those few games we'd do online. Not to mention be able to chat with head phones. It's too bad when you still stick with an old game and no one else does. I feel that way about Primal Rage. It will always be my favorite.

This dragon was going so well. I was hoping that this would be my next one for white, but if I'm this unsure about it it probably means I shouldn't get it. Perhaps I should just get the wyvern. I'm really starting to lean that way. Hehe, I'm glad you said that on the community. Good. The ancient feli stabs its own chin with it's wing. Dumb.

Oh yes! Halloween is big over here. Not only do people decorate the insides of their houses but the outsides too. They put up cut outs, and pumpkins and lights. I really would love to do the outside this year. If you live in a subdivision you'll get kids for trick or treat and some houses turn their garages into haunted houses. Oh I used to love that in my old neighborhood. So cool!! I love October because now it's non-stop holidays. Halloween all October, Thanksgiving in November and then Christmas in December. January is such a let down when everything just suddenly stops.
Found some pics of Halloween houses.

Wow those decorations in the photos look awesome!

I love it. It's cool how some houses go for tacky, others do gross, and yet others go for fancy. I kind of like a fancy classy look to my Haloween, or a fun one as opposed to gross. I like gross it's cool, but it's not my thing.

While I do like that the DD ancient has a more active pose with more of a difference between the ancient pose and the adult pose instead of the relatively bland, adult-who-had-too-many-cheeseburgers look of the ptero and feli ancients, something does seem off about its pose. The proportions seem odd, and while I get that that pose is going to alter the proportions as they're perceived somewhat, I'm not sure if they've exactly been altered correctly.

But yeah, I'm definitely in favor of freezing. I prefer the adult DD's pose to the ancient's. Similarly, I prefer the teenage lizardus's pose to its ancient's pose.

The wacky pumpkin wall clings are funny. I love them. I really like the star balls, too; they're pretty.
Des: Red Raptorthagirion on September 29th, 2010 09:41 pm (UTC)
Typical of Thaz. Just when something is going well he has to mess it up. Yes, he really needs to add freezing to the list of things to do like NOW.

I love those wacky pumpkins. They also make cut outs and I'll have to order those. They're so cute and fun. I'll have to take a pic of them when they are open.

The flying sprite of the Ancient Darkdragon is okay but it is a pity that it is so small and shows very less of the body. Maybe a flying pose from a different angle was too much work or did not fit concerning the size, I dunno, I would have made that one a bit different.

I wish that I would have more time to play, I would like to get Red Dead Redemption also but as long as I have other games that I have not finished yet it does not make much sense to get it really. But hey, maybe it gets cheaper in the meantime, XD ... one good thing on the whole no-time problem.

It's too bad it's not a good drawing. I like the adult much better though it looks too young for an adult.

We almost always wait for the price to come down. We're not the type to have to have everything when it's new. It has to be something very special for us to get it new. Mostly we buy used games and get them for cheap. BTW, what's your name on PS3? I'll add you. I'm OwenMarsh.
suzidragonlady: Altairsuzidragonlady on September 30th, 2010 06:17 am (UTC)
Oh *huh* XD I really need to look when I'm at home again, I just go online with the PS3 to download game stuff and update the system, I have never played through the net. I don't know if I'm registered with my real name or my standard user name there now. *lol*
I need to get online anyway abecause the system totally needs an update then I can add you also.

I would like to play more stuff with splitscreen, together with a person in the same room. But there are very less games available lately that support that kind of gaming.
Des: Gamingthagirion on September 30th, 2010 12:52 pm (UTC)
Well like I said, I don't play online with other people. I too prefer to have the person in the same room or even the same house if we are playing together like that. But it would be nice to have you on my friends list and see you even if we don't play together. So sure, let me know if you set up an online name and what it is. I might log in today. I haven't logged in in a long time.

I love the tissue dove. It's so cute. I would also love to see what the star ball looks like all unfolded. I remember having tissue decorations in the classrooms in elementary school. I know I've seen tissue pumpkins and tissue turkeys for Thanksgiving and tissue bells at Christmas.

That one pumpkin does look like Larry.

I remember in college one of my friends found a multilingual insult generator online. It was pretty funny. It had a bunch the insults in a ton of languages and what they meant in English.
Des: Peep Heartthagirion on September 29th, 2010 09:44 pm (UTC)
All that tissue stuff is so cute. I've seen the pumpkins and turkeys too. I want some for Thanksgiving. I think the most common are tissue bells. I'll take a pic of it and post it for you.

I love that Larry Pumpkin.

Hee hee, that's funny. If you ever need Spanish translated, swearing or not, I'll do it for you.
actipton80actipton80 on September 29th, 2010 10:51 pm (UTC)
I still remember enough Spanish from when I took it in HS and college that I can get the jist of it when I read it. If I ever need a good translation I'll ask you though. The insult generator was funny. It was really funny how some of the insults were really bad like the German ones, but others were really tame like Japanese. I wonder if that site is still up somewhere.
Desthagirion on September 30th, 2010 01:00 am (UTC)
Hehe, yeah the Japanese are so polite even when they insult you. They're so afraid to "lose face".

It was so cool to come home from work and seeing the decorations you put up! I love them. Happy to buy them for you too.

It is awesome you have been leveling my RDR character during you down time while I am not home! Thanks!
Des: Destina and Gomezthagirion on September 29th, 2010 09:47 pm (UTC)
The house is looking so festive now. It was fun putting up all the clings. I'm not looking forward to taking them down. Espcially all those tiny candy corns and figuring out which holes they go in.

My pleasure. It's fun playing as Thanatos.
